A Job Coach helps individuals improve their job skills and achieve career goals. They develop coaching plans, assist with goal setting, teach effective job tasks, and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are seeking a skilled Job Coach to assist individuals in enhancing their strengths and developing job skills. This role involves guiding professionals seeking career development and supporting people with disabilities in their workplace integration. As a mentor, the Job Coach should have a genuine passion for helping others. Identifying individuals' strengths and weaknesses is essential, in guiding them toward effective strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for developing and supporting business partnerships and
  • Follow individual's Individual Service Plan as guided by the SSA
  • Specialize in assisting employees with disabilities to learn and accurately perform job duties
  • Help Individual with career planning and resume writing
  • Assess professional strengths and weaknesses of the individual
  • Discover what motivates the individual and assist them in utilizing that motivation in the workspace
  • Assist with learning and excelling in their job functions
  • Must be able to implement job coaching with multiple employees
  • Provide one-on-one training to prepare for employment tailored to the individual's need.
  • Teach employer's how to support the DD population
  • Help Individual develop professional plans for growth within the current area of interest
  • Create and update state records and reports on progress, utilizing an internal and external computer system.
  • May require transporting individuals to and from work.
  • Help assimilate individuals in their work environment.
  • Strong communication skills and critical thinking abilities are fundamental for success in this role.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes
  • In times of need, employee may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.

Performance Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a computer and other position related technology
  • Must be able to exchange information with participants and/or families in various settings regarding program plans and performance of participants
  • Driving may also include transportation of participants
  • Must be available for crisis management by phone and work flexible hours
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to access homes of participants in various conditions which may include ascending/descending stairs
  • Must be able to drive frequently due to work varying work environments including agency office, school based, community-based, and employment locations which may include participants homes in various communities

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 21 years of age required.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's license, proof of auto insurance required, and safe driving record required.
