Summary

Mission Technologies, a Division of HII, is seeking a Technical Writer to support a Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center - Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual's primary role is to create and update documentation, manuals, and SOPs to support JITTC-N's mission of operating and maintaining the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) utilized for mission test and training.

What you will do

Develop and maintain continuous documentation to ensure engineers, subject matter experts, and pilots can effectively support the mission. This will include, but are not limited to:

• Gains understanding of products/services.

• Researches, outlines, writes, and edits content.

• Works closely with various project teams to understand project requirements.

• Works closely with subject-matter experts to gather technical content and information.

• Develops, organizes, and writes design documentation, procedure manuals, test procedures, reports, technical specifications, and process documentation.

• Works with division leadership and project leads to identify documentation repositories.

• Generates, revises, edits, and determines best solutions for data compilation, joint development, and centralized storage.

• Develops content for maximum usability with consistent voice across all documentation.

• Develops comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards.

• Translates complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content.

• Writes user-friendly content that meets the needs of target audience.

• Maintains configuration control of documentation products, product documents and reference materials including research, usability tests and design specifications.

• Evaluates innovative methods for process improvement continually.

What you must have

• 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.

• Ability to write software development reports, manuals, presentations, etc. to include design, development, and test/user documentation.

• Ability to document/create system engineering reports, manuals, presentations, etc. to include design, development, and test/user documentation.

• Ability to work well with technical team including Subject Matter Experts, Developers, and Engineers.

• Experience with Microsoft Word

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Work environment: Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.

• Clearance: DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).

• Highly proficient skill level with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Word.

Physical Requirements

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
