JOB TITLE: Jet Engine Familiarization Instructor

SALARY LEVEL: SALARY SCHEDULE-Part-Time $25-$35 and hour depending on experience and qualifications.

DEPARTMENT: MDTC-TINKER TECHNOLOGY CENTER located on Tinker Air Force Base.

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR

POSITION SUMMARY:
Instruct trainees in Jet Engine Familiarization, providing essential knowledge about jet engines, their components, and operational principles. Give general aircraft mechanics skills and knowledge through classroom theory. Instructor will give the student hands on removal and installation of jet engine accessories in a shop environment. Instructor must have knowledge of shop safety, Work Control Document (WCD), common tools, PME, FOD, Safety Wire, Borescope, and Jet Engine system and subsystem.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of five years of journeyman as a jet engine mechanic.
Prior teaching experience preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Strong verbal skills and organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate use of Borescopes and Torque Wrenches.
Demonstrate and be proficient at Safety Wiring.
Knowledgeable and ability to demonstrate use of all hand or power tools and shop safety.
Knowledgeable of Work Control Document.
Familiar with all aspects of the Jet Engine
Be able to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other software programs as needed.
Provide technical advice and assistance on the work processes.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert by reviewing curriculum for technical proficiency, validity, and compliance with tech data.
Provide aid and or guidance to internal/external maintenance wing organizations.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor or above.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the customer and staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts in a hanger/warehouse environment. Occasionally may be required to instruct in government assigned lab or shop areas. The employee will regularly be exposed to chemical fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment may vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
