Shaw Systems Associates, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of credit management software to financial institutions all over the world. We develop and maintain both mainframe and Internet based credit management software products, and we are rapidly expanding our Internet software development organization. We are looking for JAVA/Web developers in our Richmond, VA office to accomplish this expansion, and we want you to join our team!


The ideal candidate will have experience with: Java 8, knowledge of Java common Libraries, Hibernate, Spring, RESTful Web Services, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery. If you have a background in banking or loan servicing it would be a plus but is not required. You will be working on an Enterprise Level Financial application. The system was developed primarily with Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL Server DB. We are looking for a talented Software Developer to:
Provide Production Support
Design, develop and write application code.
Research, analyze and implement approved changes to the application base.
Enhance and Expand Regression Tests
Work autonomously or under general direction
Write testable, efficient code
Create Design documents from business requirements

Minimum 5 years experience as a Java developer preferably in a senior role.
Experienced Service Layer Java Developer
Experience with Java Libraries, Hibernate, Spring, RESTful Web Services, Relational Database (SQL Server).
Experience with Web development including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JQuery
Full lifecycle software development experience
Extensive Customer Exposure
Experience developing in a fast, agile environment
Experience documenting code changes
Automated Functional Testing experience with FitNesse or Selenium a plus
Excellent problem solving capabilities
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task on a regular basis
Works well in a team environment. Team consists of local and remote members.
Bachelors degree in CS or related field desired
Expected Hours of Work: This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week Monday Friday and may require additional after hour or weekend work on occasion as needed.

Confer with analysts, domain experts and users to understand and document requirements, estimate levels of effort and meet system needs. Develop, test, and implement new systems and applications; ensure deployment plan is completed, deployment steps and back-out procedures are followed, adequate post-implementation testing is conducted, and implementation efforts do not compromise existing systems, services, or availability; and maintenance and enhancements are completed within scope, budget and schedule. Determine feasibility of systems enhancements/automation; provide technical expertise in the development and implementation of new or changing applications; and work with staff and end users to identify and resolve application issues. Keep abreast of new technologies and tools for software development, testing, implementation and maintenance. Prepare application documentation (e.g., use cases, software requirements specifications, interface documents and wireframes); user documentation and user training materials; and post-implementation evaluation reports. Respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues related to scalability, response times, availability, security, reliability, robustness and accessibility; assist and mentor other IT staff; and provide training and support as needed. Support systems that access Federal Tax Information. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of Java related enterprise architecture standards and best practices; n-tier technologies; SDLC methodologies; industry best practices in source code control and configuration management; and IT Security and Disaster Recovery Plan requirements. Substantial experience in architecting and developing complex n-tier Java/J2EEapplications; designing and developing applications using JSP, Servlets, Spring Core, Spring MVC and JavaScript; ORM Frameworks (e.g., Hibernate) and Java Development IDE (e.g., Eclipse), Subversion; utilizing design patterns and software development best practices to accurately implement business requirements; implementing business applications and systems; building and maintaining data and application architectures; and using build and deployment tools (e.g., Ant, Maven, Jenkins, and JBoss Operations Network). Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, IT design and development, project management, and problem resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to function as a technical expert on complex applications, systems, software and projects; provide technical Java development support in an Sql Server environment; direct and monitor the work of others; mentor and train staff; support multiple IT projects; interact effectively in a team environment; and work independently with strict deadlines, heavy workload and changing priorities. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with degree or major in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge or experience of any JavaScript framework, JBOSS Application Server, JSF or LDAP; and experience performing code reviews or documenting applications/systems and business processes.
