Java Architect
Xpanxion is currently seeking a Java Architect that will be responsible for designing custom built J2EE applications & identifying design patterns with emphasis on user experience, reusability, scalability, performance, availability, and security. Candidate must have strong foundation in software design and development, J2EE framework, design patterns, software architecture, object-oriented programming, technical leadership and mentoring

Job Responsibilities:
Identifies and compares alternative solutions to determine the optimal solution that will meet business needs.
Ensures alignment of solution architecture to business objectives, roadmaps and strategic solutions, as well as to architecture principles and standards Works on unusually complicated problems and provides solutions that are highly creative and ingenious.
Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
Engages with external industry experts, technology suppliers and market analysts to bring insight to the strategy and to keep Company up to date with industry and market advancements/innovations.
Participates in the development and maintenance of application system architecture and conducts business information flow studies.
Creates the architecture document for assigned projects, including architecture patterns, decisions, and rationale for those decisions.
Conducts system architecture studies of new and existing IT systems to permit development of integrated systems.
Defines future architecture enhancements
Presents and communicates the solution architecture to various stakeholders, both technical and business, and can explain how the solution design will meet business needs Assists in creating and defining application and technical patterns to be used for business events, as necessary Acts as counselor to business counterparts, customers, and top management on requirements pertinent to the technical capability
Skills and

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum of 10+ years experience with J2EE 5,6,7
Java/J2EE Framework development and design experience using Spring
Experience in different Architectural Styles like MVC Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture. Microservices Architecture is a plus
Experience and in-depth knowledge with ORM or persistence frameworks such as Hibernate, iBATIS, JPA & experience with Oracle or Postgres database
Experience with REST Web Services
Experience designing solutions with enterprise systems including: Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS), Business Process Management System (BPMS), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
Experience with J2EE Application Server (TomEE, Web Logic, WebSphere, JBoss)
Expertise in upgrading legacy Web applications to current J2EE technologies
Architecting and designing frameworks to be used by applications that are running on a J2EE platform
Experience with DevOps including continuous integration and deployment
Experience with Docker & Kubernetes is a plus
Experience with Agile development methodology, Extreme Programming

This position offers a unique opportunity to fill a product management role that has visibility into all facets of the organization including R&D, Sales, Accounting & Finance, Consulting, and Customer Success. What You'll Be Doing: * Working with internal and external product stakeholders to develop and execute on the Wdata Platform systems integration strategy in collaboration with the software engineering team and outside consultants * Acting as a consultant and subject matter expert for Product Management, Software Engineering, Presales Engineer, Partnership Sales, and Client Services stakeholders to ensure their success in the field * Collaborating with stakeholders and engineering to empathize, define, ideate, and prototype solutions to solve complex productivity challenges * Working with Senior Leadership to align your product vision and strategy to company objectives * Obtaining and maintaining an in-depth understanding of Workiva's product technology and underlying software architectures, to build innovative data integration solutions * Working closely with Software Engineering teams on understanding ways to improve the product and drive excellence * Ensuring proper research, planning, tracking, and on-plan delivery * Facilitating Customer Development Partner activities across internal and external teams * Facilitating implementation of cutting-edge services and techniques * Setting and driving team and organization OKRs to achieve success * Supporting product engineering using an agile development process What We're Looking For: * A team player to be a part of an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture * Strong ability to build a product vision and communicate that vision to your team, peers, and stakeholders * Communication skills to clearly articulate and evangelize decisions * Self-motivation and a strong desire to make an impact at Workiva * Critical feedback skills (giving/receiving) that help level up design work * Ability to travel up to 20% to meet with customers and/or key stakeholders, product teams in other Workiva locations * Technical prowess – you don't have to be a master coder, but you shouldn't be afraid of diving into technical issues and understanding the complexities * Drive for continuous self-improvement and learning Education and Experience: * B.S.
