This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes

  • Keen understanding of financial control and budget management

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

  • Required hands on experience with Java and/or .Net development (Swift or Objective C), and a desire to work in either as needed.

  • Jquery, JSON, HTML4/5, AJAX, CSS 2/3 ( + any CSS preprocessor knowledge such as SASS)

  • Defensive programming around risk and cyber tools and issues (BlackDuck, Fortify, ITRC, etc.) a strong plus.

  • Equal ability/willingness to work in legacy and new applications and technologies.

  • Batch processing and database skill are a plus

  • Object oriented design skills and familiarity with advanced design patterns and practices

  • Proven experience in building scalable and robust applications

  • Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills

  • Preference for exposure or hands on Agile practitioners

  • Experience with multiple frameworks such as MVC Require, Restful, Promise, Backbone, AngularJS or any kind of JavaScript framework.

This individual will be responsible for mainframe COBOL development in a CICS and DB2 environment. The successful candidate will have experience developing and configuring SOAP and/or REST web services in a CICS environment. Job Summary The Senior Application Developer builds, maintains and configures applications to ensure business needs are met. Most will specialize in a specific application domain such as web, mobile, client-server or mainframe development, focused on supporting specific business capabilities. Application Developers will have in-depth knowledge of at least one programming language Essential Job Functions * Utilize the software development lifecycle to implement technology solutions that create and enhance applications. * Inspect, analyze, and translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical design, application code, and configuration parameters. * Produce design specifications, including screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, and printed outputs developed for self and others. * Convert technical design and specifications into functioning components through the development of application code and configuration. * Create and execute unit tests to ensure issues are proactively identified within the software development lifecycle. * Analyze code to identify causes of errors and defects. Remediate known errors within development and production support contexts. * Review application code for self and others. Define, support, and enforce code standards and guidelines relevant to the applications and technologies being supported. * Provide technical on-call support as defined within team and role expectations. * Estimate and size work based upon high-level requirements. * Continuously improve applications and processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and user experience. * Cultivate relationships across roles and organizations to maximize collaboration, partnership, and efficiency. * Provide peer coaching and feedback formally and informally. Education/Certifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience Work Experience 6 to 8 years Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Six to eight years' experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting system applications, including five years' experience programming with COBOL. Recent experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, CICS web services and DB2. * Experience with Mainframe based tools such as FileAid, Platinum, Endevor/Changeman, SYSVIEW, Xpediter and QMF. * Experience with TSO ISPF, CA-7, MVS, SQL, Web Services; Experience with JAVA a plus. * Experience developing and configuring SOAP and/or REST web services in a CICS environment. * Experience in working within a distributed environment. * Strong knowledge of software development tools and methods. * Strong knowledge of test design, testing procedures, and configuration. Strong knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming. * Ability to test and analyze data. Ability to create and execute test plans. Ability to organize multiple tasks and react to shifting priorities without compromising assignments. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear, understandable logic for maintainable code, which meets design specifications. * Aptitude for detail and accuracy. * Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical groups, both internal and external. * Ability to provide training and guidance to less experienced analysts. * Experience with PC based tools and products.
