Essential Job Functions• Manages procurement of Frozen/Fresh seafood items nationwide to secure supplies.
• Researches and develops products for the Company, sources and negotiates prices and dealswith existing/new vendors
• Monitors and analyzes daily inventory of products and creates purchasing plans based onorder volume, assortment and lead time for products.
• Train and educate, improve sales staff’s sea food knowledge
• Collaborates with purchasing team and sales team to predict product demand and sourcingneeds.
• Coordinates with suppliers to resolve product quality issues, delivery schedules, and productreturn/discrepancy issues
• Analyzes procurement data to identify cost-effective strategies and enhance supply chainefficiency
• Answers questions regarding products, ordering status, shipping schedule, on hand itemcondition and inventory discrepancy, and escalates issues accordingly.
• Research and obtain necessary permits to handle frozen/fresh seafood products
• Develop and maintain HACCP Plan for frozen/fresh seafood
• Provide administrative and clerical support to ensure the compliance with FDA and USDAsafety standards (GMP, HACCP, SSOP, Vendor program, Food Defense, Recall Program, etc.).
• Attend trade shows to stay informed of new products
• Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
• Performs other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements
• Able to sit in an office setting for an extended period of time
• Able to type and use a computer for extended periods throughout the day
• Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Able to use the phone for extended periods of time
• Overnight travel may be required
• Working Conditionso Noise Level: Normal to loud while in the officeOther Requirements
• Business level English required – read/write/speak/listen
• Business level Japanese strongly preferred – read/write/speak/listen
• Able to work weekends, holidays, and after hours as needed
• Able to work independently and as a team
• Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• High School or Bachelor's Degree required.
• 5+ years of field sales or purchasing experience in frozen/fresh seafood requiredKnowledge and Skills• Intermediate mathematical knowledge – profit margin calculations, markups, discounts,combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc.
• Problem-solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional organization and time management skills
• Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes preferred
