Title: Japanese Bilingual Project Coordinator (Japanese Food Trade)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid: 3 days in office/ 2 days remote per week)

Working Conditions: Currently telecommuting twice a week, but this may change in the future. Occasional outings and business trips may be required.

FLSA: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break) (Expected overtime: approximately 40 hours per month, subject to change depending on projects)

OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the team at the organization promotes the U.S.-Japan trade. As a Project Coordinator, you will be engaged in the firm's initiatives to support clients from Japan in food, agricultural, forestry, and fishery product industry with import, market expansion, and consumption growth in the U.S. market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:

  • Manage the schedules, travel arrangements, and contact information of assigned managers, including coordinating meetings, travel logistics, and ensuring the availability of necessary resources.

  • Provide prompt and professional assistance to visitors and inquiries, including handling incoming calls, emails, and in-person requests.

  • Maintain effective communication with external stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and media representatives.

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of various initiatives aimed at promoting Japanese exports, such as trade shows, seminars, individual company support, and research projects.

  • Proactively identify and engage with promising domestic and international companies, providing them with market intelligence and tailored support services.

  • Actively seek out new businesses, organizations, and experts to expand the office's network of collaborators.

  • Develop and disseminate information about the office's activities and trade and investment opportunities, including press releases, newsletters, and website content.

  • Provide support for the organization and execution of events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops.

  • Handle incoming inquiries, providing immediate responses to simple queries and consulting with senior staff for more complex matters.

  • Prepare internal documents, manage expenses, and perform other administrative tasks related to assigned duties.

  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, business administration, or a related field; or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a corporate setting, demonstrating the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese.

  • Understanding of US-Japan business practices and cultural nuances.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom).

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling seamless interactions with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Exhibit a proactive approach and a strong sales mindset, actively seeking opportunities to propose and implement solutions.

  • Possess interest in Japanese food products, trades, and/or marketing and promotion.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
