We are actively looking for a Staff Accountant to handle construction project invoicing and accounts receivable. While our office headquarters is in Monterey, CA currently all office staff are working remotely. Job Summary: We are looking for a reliable professional to help us properly maintain project invoicing and receivables for our construction projects. This position adds to our growing accounting team. We are seeking an experienced candidate who has worked in the construction industry with accounts receivable experience and is familiar with AIA billing, lien waivers, and release forms. This position reports directly to the Controller. Areas of Performance: * Prepare and review customer billings in line with signed contracts, including preparing AIA documents and progress billings. Make sure that invoices adhere to contract details and that any approved change orders are accurately reflected in billings. * Prepare final customer invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including lien releases and all applicable backup for needed for approval. * Bill customer timely for all retention invoices at end of the project. * Record pre-liens on new projects and track liens within 3rd party software. * Reconcile during and at end of the project as well as all contracts, change orders, billing, budget, and cost issues so that project can be closed timely. Obtain approval, close project, and archive project files. * Assess and pursue opportunities for streamlining of client billing and project costing; communicate your observations with management and take action. * Contact the customer monthly to confirm that all required information has been received for prompt and timely payment of payment applications. Work with the project manager to correct payment application deficiencies and work with the customer to secure timely payment within terms. * Support the accounting team with variance reporting, develop Excel spreadsheets and other ad hoc projects as needed Skill, Knowledge, Education, and Experience: * Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent experience preferred. * Experience in construction industry preferred * Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a staff accountant position. * Possess proven solid verbal and written communication skills. * Strong attention to detail. * Experience in the use of various applications Microsoft Office Products, including Windows, Word, Excel. Netsuite experience is a plus. * Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities. * Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion. * Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the appropriate person, as necessary. * Strong customer service orientation. * Current CA Notary preferred or willing to attain CA Notary RP Construction Services, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
