Perform many routine janitorial tasks for upkeep of building and grounds, maintaining cleanliness and sanitary conditions. This is a regular part time position with a workweek expectation of 25 hours per week.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
Support the mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client and colleague with individual respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind. Dust, vacuum, clean, mop, scrub daily and clean up spills in common use areas. Strip, buff, wax tile floor as needed.
Clean and sanitize all restrooms and fill all dispensers; soap, paper towels, toilet paper. Clean chapel, community room, hallways, entrances, recreation room, and reception area daily. Vacuum Offices 3x per week.
Clean/dust office areas when asked by supervisors. Collect and empty trash daily, including offices. Keep janitor's room in orderly and clean fashion.
Assist in grounds keeping by picking up trash. Perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks within the scope of this job description as assigned from time-to-time by management representatives. Make minor independent judgments based on prescribed procedures and policies when cleaning.
Do limited miscellaneous repairs, painting, program set up and take down as needed. Assist with special programs as requested. Perform heavy cleaning when necessary.
Reports safety hazards to supervisor immediately. All other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience in janitorial work desired.
Ability to accept supervision and instruction. Demonstrate the ability to perform tasks independently. Possess a positive attitude and works well with others.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and handle property maintenance equipment. Must pass The Salvation Army's background check, have a valid driver's license and meet the MVR drivers qualifications. Must be willing to support the Mission of The Salvation Army. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
