Starting wage: $18.00-$20.00/hour, DOE.
Job type: Full-time, Non-exempt
Schedule: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, with rotating on-call, to be discussed at interview.
Training: Alternatives provides thorough orientation and training for all new staff.
You can expect a one-week orientation, where you will learn all about Alternatives and be prepared for taking on your role.
This first week is 9am-5pm at our Alternatives Training Center.
Continual on-going training is provided to all our staff to keep them current on their roles, industry standards, and contractual compliance.
What Skills do you need?
Jail Alternatives Managers (JAMs) will be most successful if they have 2 years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, and/or social services.
Important traits include good boundaries, being empathetic with clients, and great interpersonal skills.
Must have experience using computers, good typing skills, as this will require regular case-load documentation.
You must be able to pass a drug screening, background check, and possess a high school diploma!
About the Team:
The Jail Alternatives Managers are part of the Beta team of Alternatives, Inc.
The Beta team is led by a talented Director of Community Services, who is experienced in education and social services, and holds multiple degrees.
The Beta team prides themselves on providing excellent service to clients, while working together to ensure all Alternatives team members and clients are taken care of. Beta is a high paced environment with a multitude of different services and clients seen throughout the day. No two days are the same, and they are happy to be able to work with our diverse community clientele. The Beta team believes that through support, connection of services, and accountability we can make a huge difference in our community and in the lives of those who live here.
What will you do in this position?
As a Jail Alternatives Manager, you will manage a specific caseload of clients, ensuring they are attending their check-ins, meetings, appointments, and court dates. You will ensure compliance with court requirements, drug/alcohol monitoring and/or testing, and connecting them to other service providers in the community. You are also responsible for reporting violations to the court and will be responsible for corresponding with court officials on client progress.
As a JAM at Beta, we believe to best work as a team all staff should be cross trained in all areas to make sure we can support other team members, regardless of their position.
