The South Dakota Department of Education is looking for an individual to support schools in the Jobs for America's Graduates program in South Dakota (JAG-SD). This is a full-time (40 hrs/week) position with the Department of Education

The JAG Program Manager is a proactive decision-maker who supports JAG programs in middle and high schools across the state. These exciting new positions will have the opportunity to work directly with students, as well as our schools and educators who serve some of our state's most vulnerable populations. JAG is a national program which has existed in some South Dakota districts for fifteen years. It is a program that takes students facing significant barriers to graduation and gives them the support and tools they need to persist through to graduation and succeed afterwards.

As a JAG Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure maximum effectiveness and implementation of the JAG model with fidelity. This can include regularly documenting classroom observations, advising, counseling, and directing JAG classroom teachers for continual improvement.

  • Work with teachers to analyze data to aid in developing a successful JAG program that meets the needs of their individual students.

  • Gather and analyze data for JAG reporting requirements and prepare reports for presentation to stakeholder groups, which may include school boards, the JAG national association, and the JAG-SD advisory board.

  • Partner in ensuring JAG-SD achieves expected state and national performance outcomes in areas such as employability skills, academic remediation, career and postsecondary planning, and a twelve-month follow-up period following graduation.

  • Other goals may include managing multiple funds with thousands of dollars in grants and reimbursements, supporting JAG-SD state officers, and/or planning large-scale events.

  • Be a part of a team of professional, dependable, and accountable individuals.

This position works as an employee of the Department of Education with regular office hours. The position could be located in the department's office in Pierre or work as a remote employee within South Dakota. Approximately 60% of work is conducted from the office; 40% of the position's time is spent traveling for work-related duties and events. Most travel is in-state; occasional out-of-state travel is required. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Preferred candidates will bring strong education or nonprofit experience.
