Jacobs Consultancy is seeking Consultants to work within our Petrochemicals Practice. Successful candidates will be key members of the team providing consulting services and contributing to business development activities across the full range of the chemical and petrochemical industry. Expertise in

particular chemical value chains, such ammonia, ethylene, syngas-based processes, is essential for the Senior Consultant position.

We currently have an opportunity for an International Environmental/Social Senior Consultant within our Jacobs Consultancy team based in our Houston office. This opening is to join the global environmental team within Jacobs Consultancy to support the Jacobs Energy, Chemicals and Resources line of business in the Americas region.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • The role will primarily involve supporting the global Jacobs Consultancy environmental team in international lender's technical advisor roles, lender's environmental and social roles, environmental due diligence and other bespoke environmental and social assessments as required. The role requires international travel in North and South America and possibly globally, as necessary.

  • The successful applicant will have a proven track record in project management, client management, business development and delivery of projects to overseas clients. Ideally experience will have been gained in projects for major financial and lender institutions.

  • We are looking for someone with a minimum of fifteen years professional experience, however we will consider all applicants based on merit.

The role will involve the following:

  • Take ownership for project success: delivery of target quality, cost management and customer satisfaction. Proven management of and delegation to teams of consultants.

  • Execute projects through teamwork with other internal Jacobs Consultancy and Jacobs Engineering teams and lines of business and, where required, with external organizations.

  • Have appropriate level of environmental and/or social knowledge to be able to effectively lead discussions with clients and facilitate workshops in support of task delivery.

  • Building long term relationships with clients.

  • Identifying Jacobs' pull-through opportunities which have positive impact on client business performance.

  • Support the wider Jacobs Consultancy team business development strategy and take initiative to identify and develop new clients.

  • Develop commercial proposals to meet client needs.

  • Use an understanding of client business to tailor services for maximum positive impact.

  • Take responsibility for maintaining high utilization performance; proactively seeks assignments.

  • Effective communication to peers and clients.

  • Participates and presents at meetings with clients.

  • Values and utilizes the diverse background and skills of people for the attainment of company goals.

  • Participates in projects through teamwork with other departments and with outside organizations.

  • Proactively makes knowledge readily accessible.

  • Present technical papers and publish articles at appropriate industry conferences or other relevant events.

  • Have a strong personal safety ethic; proactive in identification of and closure of issues; and measures safety performance.

  • BSc/MSc or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

  • Chartered Status through a relevant professional organization.

  • Have proven client facing experience and managing client and/or other partner relationships.

  • Have good professional network and associated connectivity and pull-through opportunities through the organisation.

  • Ability and desire to travel throughout North and South America (and globally if required) to work on short term assignments overseas and be an experienced independent traveller on business.

  • Experienced in undertaking environmental and/or social due diligence for lenders, finance institutions and/or private companies.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge in the safeguard policies of international lenders and export credit agencies.

  • Have an environmental and/or social track record of working in the chemicals, oil and gas and energy sectors.

  • Have excellent (written and verbal) communication including technical report writing skills.

  • Multi-country international experience and additional language skills (French/Spanish/other) will be advantageous.

  • Based in Houston or Chicago office (but other locations considered)

Each day, as part of our Houston Environmental Compliance team you will be the face of JACOBS Engineering, Inc. as you support multi-discipline teams of client and consulting staff. You should be a self-motivated professional with 15-20 years of demonstrated experience in environmental compliance, permitting and project management. Successful candidates will have experience in the Chemicals Manufacturing industry, implementing major environmental air regulations under the Clean Air Act (BWON, HON, LDAR etc). Our Sr. Air Compliance Technical Consultants: * Support the delivery of projects involving compliance assurance strategies, implementation of compliance controls and programs, permitting, and design of associated work processes such as tools and training * Possess a strong background in operational compliance, including understanding of air sources, air pollution control technologies, and interaction with facility functions such as operations, maintenance, instrumentation and engineering, process safety, etc. * Provide attention to detail when making technical evaluations, reviewing reports or writing proposals * Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to deliver high quality air compliance advice, project outcomes, and deliverables to clients, regulatory agencies, and internal team members. * Possess understanding of the implications of environmental regulations including compliance risks and enforcement negotiation * Demonstrate client service skills, including ability to support environmental air compliance/permitting projects at client sites and internally within other lines of businesses within Jacobs * Possess strong business acumen that is applied in all aspects of project execution and client interactions * Enjoy mentoring junior staff in environmental compliance technical expertise, environmental consulting, and client interactions/relationships for career development and department growth * Develop internal relationships to support the overall growth and success of JACOBS #ges1819 * Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science from a U.S. accredited college or university.
