VIEW JOBS 3/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-16T00:00 The International Tax Senior Manager is the lead U.S. international tax professional for Vanguard's corporate tax function. The person in this role is responsible for managing the U.S. tax implications of Vanguard's international operations, including tax planning and strategy, compliance and accounting for income taxes pursuant to ASC 740. The person in this role will also be responsible for local country tax matters for operations outside of Europe and Australia. Duties & Responsibilities: Manage staff. Provide guidance, training and motivation as necessary to develop staff. Hire, evaluate and counsel personnel. Follow corporate disciplinary procedures per established Vanguard standards as required. Set performance standards, review performance, provide feedback, and recommend wage increases in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures. Lead the compliance and planning function for U.S. international and local taxes. Responsible for analyzing and complying with relevant tax laws where Vanguard is engaged in business. Provide strategic tax support to international business initiatives. Research complex tax issues and effectively communicate related analyses to senior management. Manage the timely and accurate preparation of all tax forms and calculations for tax filings and provisions related to the Company's international operations. Ensure the existence and accuracy of robust documentation for all tax policy positions in addition to complete, accurate and well documented work papers to support each return. Evaluate and implement automation technologies to enhance the efficiency of tax calculations. Manage the timely and accurate preparation of local income tax returns prepared by external providers with respect to foreign subsidiaries outside of Europe and Australia. Proactively monitor the legislative and regulatory landscape for relevant changes in tax law by reviewing tax literature, monitoring tax research databases, attending conferences, and networking with peers and colleagues. Estimate the impact of changes in law on the company's tax position and account for those differences in financial statements. Manage all international corporate tax audits and inquiries in countries outside of Europe and Australia. Provide support as needed to the local corporate tax teams in the UK and Australia regarding tax audits over which they have direct responsibility. Respond to information document requests and effectively advocate for positions taken on filed returns. Manage the preparation of transfer pricing documentation by external advisors, including country by country reports, for relevant foreign and domestic entities of the Vanguard group. Formulate strategy for U.S. international and local income taxes. Work with inside and outside advisors/consultants to pursue strategic planning initiatives as appropriate. Monitor changes in business activities and ensure that those changes are properly reflected in tax compliance filings. Work closely with peers to account for changes to the business and to communicate the impacts of those changes. Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley and risk controls are well designed, operate effective and are well documented. Develop recommendations to minimize and/or monitor tax risk by documenting potential exposures and corresponding mitigation strategies. Vanguard Malvern PA
