The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an entry-level Engineering Associate for our Traffic Engineering Group in our Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina offices. The Engineer will primarily work within North Carolina. However, the position is national in scope and the Engineer will also work with associates based in other states including Virginia, Florida, Colorado, and Texas.
We are looking for an engineering associate with the desire to work within the traffic engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) arena. The ideal candidate will enjoy developing optimized traffic signal timing plans and designing traffic signals. You will be able to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and have excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills. You will be a key member in our team. Essential Functions:
ITS Planning and Design
Coordinated Traffic Signal Timing Development and Implementation
Traffic Signal Design
Traffic Signal Electrical Details
Traffic Signal Communication plans
Controller Cabinet Testing
Secondary Functions:
Traffic Analysis
Safety Analysis
Tolls Technologies
Signing and Pavement Markings
Lighting Analysis and Design
This position requires hands-on office and field activities in support of the above primary activities. It offers a greater variety of opportunities than most engineering positions.
Minimum Qualifications:
ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
Must possess solid oral and written communications skills.
Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as an Engineering Intern (EI)
Prior internship or related experience
AutoCAD and / or MicroStation experience
Coursework that includes Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Traffic Engineering, and/or Electrical Engineering
