Itinerant Art Teacher, Alternative Education Programs

Requirements / Qualifications

Must possess a valid appropriate California Teaching Credential with an English Learner Authorization (CLAD or BCLAD, or equivalent). Authorizations in Art or Theater are preferred.

School Year: 185 days per year. Locations: This will be an itinerant position.

Class Hours: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (7.5 hrs./day). This position will be a daytime teaching position. MA (pro-rated) stipend $1,500; Doctorate (pro-rated) stipend $400. Fully paid dental and vision insurance covering both employee and dependents.

The employee is also provided with long-term disability insurance and life insurance. Medical benefits: There is an employee paid portion for medical benefits depending upon the medical plan chosen which covers employee and dependents. MUST SUBMIT RESUME; THREE LETTERS OF REFERENCE AND A COVER LETTER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.

The Visual and Performing Arts Teacher (VAPA) will work to best prepare at-promise students and provide opportunities for educational success in art instruction. The VAPA teacher will have skills and experience that engage a diverse student population, foster creativity, and build social emotional competencies while embedding other important skills beyond the content area.

Students at the Juvenile Court and Community Schools are challenged to become more Curious, Conscientious, and Confident. Beyond being an expert in the Visual and Performing Arts, the VAPA teacher will effectively utilize various teaching and assessment strategies to support individual student growth.
