IT Web Development Manager - Job Description

This development manager will be responsible for providing technical direction and leadership to a team of 8-12 developers. The manager will utilize exceptional leadership skills and technical acumen to enhance all aspects of solution development and delivery at Frontier. The manager will be expected to be capable of working in across multiple technologies within the web development eco system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of our digital roadmap.

  • Providing leadership in the design, development and testing of web applications and features.

  • Providing leadership in progressing projects through the software lifecycle.

  • Mentoring the team and building an environment where they can grow.

  • Assisting the development team with complex problems

  • Performing code reviews.

  • Participating in requirements gathering, application design, planning and review.

  • Participating in the front end and back end development process utilizing a variety of technologies including Angular, Node.js, .net, SiteCore, Apigee, and Web API, Mongo, Microsoft SQL, and more.

  • Collaborating with the product owners and business as a team to maintain an evolving roadmap.

  • Interfacing with the project management organization, groups within Frontier and external partners.

  • Working with legacy applications

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - Required

Bachelor's degree in computer or information technology and five (5) years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience software development with a web development focus.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - Preferred

Bachelor's degree in computer or information technology and five (5) years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience as a software developer along with three (3) years' experience as a team or project lead role

ESSENTIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Deep understanding of modern web development practices and technologies including, but not limited to:

  • Angular and other client-side web frameworks

  • js

  • JavaScript, TypeScript

  • Deep understanding of database development and consumption utilizing document and relational databases.

  • Deep understanding of agile software development

  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming.

  • Extensive experience using a language like Java or C#.

  • Experience managing build pipelines and a CI/CD process (Team Foundation Server is preferred).

  • Experience writing unit tests

  • Experience writing documentation

  • Experience estimating projects.

  • Experience with deployment to Microsoft servers and server farms.

DESIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Telco background

  • Previous work with Telerik control sets

  • Previous work as a project manager

Summary Frontier Communications is looking for a talented Lead .NET Web Developer who can deliver high-performance and intuitively designed applications using a wide range of modern technologies and practices. The Lead .NET Web Developer responsibilities include participating in the entire software development life cycle to design and create the next generation of our public facing web site and mobile applications to provision, manage, and deliver services to our subscribers. Essential Job Functions: * Requirements and Design: Working alongside the product owner and stake holders to understand the request and work with the development team to build out tasks. * Microservice Architecture: building out an externally facing, performant and high reliability microservice architecture. * System Architecture: participate in technical design of new and updated functionality with our team, other Frontier teams, as well as external companies. * Public web development supporting * Web technologies: Practical experience with SPA frameworks like Angular. Proficient in JavaScript, HTML/CSS and responsive design * Feature development: developing functionality across the full stack including database, services, system integration, and UI. * Maintenance: investigate, troubleshoot, debug and implement fixes for software defects * Testing: work closely with Quality Assurance and software development engineers to ensure that code is exercised in an automated way that ensures consistent quality. * Dev ops functions: working with the operations team to support our deployment process. * Documentation: support the sustainability of the systems by providing concise documentation about the applications and process. * Mentoring: provide code reviews, training, and paired programming to other members of the team.
