Training / Technical Writing Manager Iron Bow Technologies has an immediate need for an experienced Training & Technical Writing Manager interested in a permanent, full-time position in Washington, DC supporting a long-time federal government customer, the Department of Justice (DOJ). The Technical Writing Manager will lead a team of Trainers and Technical Writers responsible for producing quality products that are essential to our customer needs. The right person for this position will have a passion for positive customer experiences and for ensuring our quality standards and the needs of the customer are both met.

The selected candidate will be able to not only express what makes a quality deliverable, but also roll up their sleeves and assist with producing those deliverables. This position requires onsite work at the customer site in Washington, DC but once acclimated into the program, there may be an opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Provide daily oversight and guidance to team members supporting a variety of tasks related to training and technical writing Coordinate tasking and provide oversight to ensure staff stay productive and remain cognizant of the expected and planned timelines Collaborate with multiple areas of team as well as the customer, to ensure customer requirements and business needs are clearly defined and achievable Understand and translate technical documentation into content easily understood by a non-technical audience Create, update and maintain training templates and documentation standards Development of SOPs, creation of brochures, help guides, best practices, FAQ’s, knowledge articles and other sources providing guidelines on commonly used products and processes Develop curriculums for application and hardware training, the documentation needed to support the delivery of that training, as well as the training schedule, while ensuring the team is meeting the needs of the end user requirements Adhere to accessibility compliance guidelines from Rehabilitation Act (Section 508) Maintain SharePoint training document repository and participant training records Training venues will include general application training of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, training on department-specific applications, and new hire training in one-on-one settings or classroom based, either in person or virtual Manage team responsible for training litigation-specific software, such as, Relativity, TrialDirector, CaseMap, TimeMap and for litigation topics, such as creation and use of transcript and document databases, scan evidentiary documents, capturing and annotating live transcript feeds on laptops, organizing / sharing attorney work products and displaying electronic evidence at trial WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE A minimum of 6 years’ experience in training delivery and developing training material, instructional design, teaching and/or technical writing is required Substantial technical writing experience is required Must have proven track record of successfully supporting and leading team members who are collectively responsible for accomplishing assigned tasks Adept within MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of project team and leadership Experience in leading the delivery of technical training within complex and large-enterprise infrastructure environments A keen eye for attention to detail and the drive to focus on all tasking, no matter how small, to ensure accuracy of the developed products prior to release – and the drive to instill this skill across the team is needed Candidates should have extensive experience translating technical information into content easily understood by a non-technical audience Experience and understanding of Agile methodology is desired Ability to hold/maintain an active Secret clearance – existing clearance is preferred, but will also consider candidates who can obtain A BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant discipline is required Candidates must possess the following certifications or be willing/able to obtain within 6-months of hire (at company expense): CCSP (Certified Customer Service Professional) and CPTM (Certified Professional in Training Management) OUR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER COMMITMENT Iron Bow Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
