Legacy Community Health is a premium, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive care to community members regardless of their ability to pay. Our roots began in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, with specialization in HIV education, testing, and treatment. Since then, the agency has expanded to >50 clinics in Houston, one in Baytown, two in Beaumont, and one in Deer Park with extensive services that include: Adult primary care, HIV/AIDS care, pediatrics, OB/GYN and maternity, dental, vision and behavioral health. Job Description

The IT Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training courses/materials focused on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of off-the-shelf and customized end user systems and software applications. Clinical applications include any software application used in support of the clinical enterprise including patient registration, patient billing, clinical documentation utilized in ambulatory settings, as well as applications for specific medical specialties. The incumbent will experience a variety of non-clinical and clinical users, while training in classrooms, areas of practice, and virtually. Responsibilities include achieving an in-depth knowledge of specific clinical software applications, policies, procedures, and related workflows, developing documentation for custom applications and packaged applications, using a variety of delivery mediums, and developing and monitoring metrics for evaluating training course effectiveness.

This role reports directly to the Manager or Director Clinical Software Applications Training.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct training and classroom-based coaching onsite and in virtual environments that builds motivation and ability

  • Design and implement appropriate learning curriculum to meet business needs including process design and solution adoption best practices

  • Develop, implement and evaluate training and education programs for internal clients to promote growth, development and adoption

  • Assists with the development of detailed curriculum content and training plans for designated area(s)

  • Assists with coordinating appropriate level of end-user training

  • Conducting training for specific application area(s) for all end-users

  • Assisting with coordination of Trainers and Super Users

  • Assisting in technology competency assessments

  • Assisting with scenario-based training

  • Consult with and coordinate between vendor and client project leaders to identify capability gaps impacting current and future business strategies

  • Completing project tasks within the timeline as assigned

  • Providing end-user feedback to colleagues and identifying improvement strategies for system design and implementation

  • Interacting as necessary with vendor training personnel

  • Escalating complex issues to appropriate entities for resolution

  • Working closely with Enterprise and local system teams

  • Advocates and promotes teamwork values and ground rules

  • Participates as a member of a high-performance team of solution architects, project management, business analysis, quality assurance and organizational change management professionals.

  • Establishes strong relationships with business stakeholders and all support functions to continuously understand their needs/requirements.

  • Participates in the planning, coordination, and review of new solutions and the work plans necessary to implement them.

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Works collaboratively with other teams and departments.

  • Actively participates in IT groups external to Legacy through industry seminars, workshops and training sessions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education, Certifications, Licenses & Training\

  • At least 3 years of experience conducting clinical applications analysis, analysis of clinical workflows system adoption strategies, and training and educating adult learners

Required Years of Experience

  • At least 3 years of clinical, healthcare operations, or clinical IT experience

  • Previous experience in Clinical Software Implementations and/or Training

  • Ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.

  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA regulations

  • Demonstrate ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills

  • Demonstrate strong organizational, presentation and customer service skills

  • Ability to manage a wide range of projects, large and small, along with a high volume of service requests.

  • Ability to prepare a presentation and present to an audience comprised of varying levels of leadership.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communications and follow-up skills, and strong interpersonal relationship skills

  • Ability to meet Legacy Community Healths EPIC proficiency requirements.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent and five years related experience

  • Superuser or Trainer for Epic Ambulatory and/or Resolute/PB

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge and experience in implementing and supporting healthcare applications

  • Clinical informatics experience

  • Experience with documenting workflows utilizing Microsoft Visio

  • Experience working with hardware (desktop PCs, thin clients, printers)
