Job Title IT Technician I, Desktop Support Services Job Description

The primary functions of this position are to provide quality network services support to all users by means of various methods of communication. Support college technology through the use of multiple system platforms and tools.

Perform installation, setup, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and repair on technology equipment and software. Recognize and diagnose system malfunctions and perform maintenance on all technology devices.

Salary based off experience $35,743 - $40,118

Essential Duties Summary

Install, configure and upgrade systems and software using standard business and administrative packages.

Install, assemble, and configure technology equipment and peripherals.

Troubleshoot problems using critical thinking skills to identify and recommend solutions for technology systems, including hardware and software, network and peripheral equipment problems, makes repairs and corrections where required.

Act as a technical resource while assisting users in the resolution of problems with technology equipment.

Assists the centralized Technical Support Desk to facilitate exchange of information. Implements solutions or notifies maintenance service providers as required.

Assist in instructing faculty and staff in the use of specific technology platforms, such as operation Documents through a centralized work order system all interactions with users and progress regarding technology systems and service requests.

Maintain current knowledge of hardware and software technology.

Required Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma/GED and two years of relevant Information Technology experience.

Advanced degrees or special certifications may be substituted for required experience.

Have a basic knowledge or understanding of technology equipment, software application, and documentation. Must have good troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to identify and recommend solutions for technology related problems.

The employee spends extended periods of time on the telephone and in front of a computer monitor. The employee will do data entry using a computer keyboard and mouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers. The employee is regularly required to walk and reach with hands and arms.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Will be required to lift and transport technology equipment and sometimes office furniture to accommodate peripherals and cabling. Must be able to pull cabling from a standing or overhead position. The hearing and vision requirements include the ability to hear normal low, middle and high frequency sounds as well as have close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus and determ
