JOB TITLE: IT Technician

  • Site Based

SUMMARY:

Responsible for configuring and installing desktop computer systems and terminals, laptop computer systems, and printers connected to a multi-server TCP/IP wide area network. Troubleshoots existing installed base of equipment and repairs or replaces equipment as necessary. Coordinates facility cabling installations and modifications for data and telecommunications support with site directors and cable vendors. Works with program directors to assist in the acquisition of new telephone and fax line installations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Associate degree in computer related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: A+ certification preferred

Experience: Experience installing and troubleshooting PCs on a corporate network preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Skilled in use of all major computer applications.

Knowledgeable in hardware/software design and functions.

Verbal/written communication skills.

Windows Desktop OS, Windows Server OS, Microsoft Office

Windows network technologies, DNS, DHCP, AD, GPO, etc.

IP Networking, Cisco network switches, Cisco Wireless

EQUIPMENT:

Computer, fax, copier and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Demonstrates competency in items listed in "Frontier Health Level I Technical Support Skills Evaluation", including correct diagnosis of PC hardware failure, diagnosis of network communication errors, diagnosis of terminal I/O interruptions, virus detection and recovery, and master image deployment.

2.Responsible for the configuration and deployment of personal computer devices, including desktop PCs, character-based terminals, laptop computers, and hand-held computing devices.

3.Configures connective devices, such as Digi Portservers, 10/100 hubs, DSL, ISDN, Cable and Analog modems to communicate with host devices.

4.Responds to helpdesk inquires to diagnose and remedy problems with existing installed base of computing devices.

5.Provides training classes for commonly used software applications such as Microsoft Word and WebMail.

6.Maintains facility profiles detailing the types of computing resources in use at each location/ program to assist in rapid needs-assessment when evaluating the potential for deployment of new technologies.

7.Coordinates with cabling vendors as necessary when new offices are opened or relocated to ensure that adequate wiring is in place or prepared to support network and telecommunications services in these locations.

8.Works with special research projects as assigned, such as voice recognition and image archival.

9.Provides training to staff members in assigned areas.

  2. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and inservices and individual program planning staffings as needed.

  3. Any other duties as assigned.
