The position is primarily responsible for supporting the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) G-2 user community and the servers/services/applications they use at Ft. Eustis, VA. You will report to the Network Services Manager and work closely with IT staff, management and end users.
Your future duties and responsibilities
The Contractor shall provide Local IT Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance Support Services. Services for local IT infrastructure cover the field site's infrastructure (network devices, servers, storage) as well as the customers' supporting IT infrastructure (e.g., VTC suites, knowledge walls, printers, scanners, Virtual client /server environment, TACLANES, etc.) and end-user environments (e.g., desktops, monitors, VoIP phones, DVTCs, KVM switches, etc.). Operations services include, but are not limited to operating server and storage appliances; analyzing and resolving common problems related to servers and storage; installing patches and performing system updates; managing server and storage processing strategies; recovering data when required; installing and configuring server and storage devices as required. Maintenance services include, but are not limited to installing, adding, removing, or changing (IMAC) hardware; providing preventative maintenance to inspect, clean, and repair
equipment before a mechanical failure occurs; responding to service requests for hardware related incidents; performing a technical diagnosis of equipment problems, including basic troubleshooting of networks using network management tools and network utilities; coordinating "in warranty" service for covered equipment; repairing or coordinating fix actions for "out of warranty" equipment; performing upgrade maintenance to improve or enhance operations of existing equipment; and maintain inventory. May be required to run cable (Ethernet, Fiber, Telephone) if necessary to give a user a connection. Documenting of work is a requirement using the available helpdesk system used by the enterprise. As required, the Government will identify demarcation points between server and storage responsibilities contained within this task order and server and storage responsibilities covered by the Enterprise Operations Services task orders or by other IT service providers. Enterprise IT O&M policy and
guidance shall flow down to the field sites while performance and service-level reporting shall flow up to the Enterprise. When available, the Contractor shall use Enterprise-level services for O&M of hardware and software for customers/field sites (e.g., DoDIIS workstation/server baseline, patch management, over the network rekeying/reconfigurations, etc). Contractor will respond to inquiries from their organization's computer users and may run automatic diagnostics programs to resolve problems. They also install, modify, clean, and repair computer hardware and software. In addition, they may write training manuals and train computer users on how to use new computer hardware and software. Contractor personnel will document all work in the standard helpdesk system that has been adopted by the enterprise. Contractor personnel may be required to run cable (Ethernet, Fiber, Telephone) if necessary to give a user a connection. Contractor personnel may be required to back up existing System
Administrators when needed. Contractor personnel will be certified accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program. Contractor will stay abreast of new technology and be required to stay current on certifications. The Contractor shall ensure that personnel accessing information systems have the proper and current Information assurance certification to perform information assurance functions in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program. The Contractor shall meet the applicable information assurance Certification requirements.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
A Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 3 years experience is required. Additional work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement.
Minimum 3 years' experience in analyzing, designing, configuration and troubleshooting Microsoft system problems relating to the Microsoft network environment, i.e., Network Protocol Router, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), TCP/IP, IPX), Microsoft Mail, Microsoft Windows operating systems to include Active Directory along with all other versions of mail Exchange, and server Architecture, Internetworking with Microsoft TCP/IP, Microsoft Exchange Server, and Domain Name Server.
Must have experience in exercising systems to include managing and issuing passwords, establishing user and group accounts, and recommending and establishing file permission attributes.
Must be DoD 8570.1 Certified at a minimum of IAT Level 1
Must posses current Windows OS certification
Position requires a Top Secret security clearance with SCI access.
