Job Title: IT Systems Administrator

Reports To: IT Systems Supervisor

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the IT Systems Administrator is to assist the IT Systems Supervisor in supporting the stable operation of the in-house computer network to ensure the security and availability of the organization's IT Operations/infrastructure assets. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring a high level of security and minimal network downtime. The person will also monitor, maintain, support, diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software problems for all CCI locations in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in network design, implementation, and maintenance.

  • Provide network support across organizational operating systems.

  • Maintain stable and consistent connectivity across all network computers.

  • Prepare, implement, and monitor disaster procedures and recovery.

  • Maintain network servers and associated hardware, software, services, and settings.

  • Maintain and manage Hyper-V and SAN operations.

  • Recommend, Evaluate, Test, and implement system and security upgrades (SCCM/Intune).

  • Consistently monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance.

  • Create, adjust, and maintain network user settings and permissions.

  • Write technical support documentation for network systems and applications.

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software.

  • Assist with the maintenance of servers, including directory, e-mail, print and backup servers and OS patching procedures.

  • Assist with the maintenance of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Application support with Watchguard, Palo Alto firewalls, Cloud Management & Monitoring, and Intune device management.

  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points.

  • Monitor and test network performance and provide performance statistics and reports.

  • Respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems.

  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions.

  • Assist in the recommendation and performance of network upgrades and repairs.

  • Support development and implementation of networking projects and new technology.

  • Assist with new server deployment operations.

  • Prepare, maintain, and follow procedures for logging, reporting, and monitoring network data.

  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend for purchase networking hardware and software products.

  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.

  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, IT Operations support staff on network issues.

  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for network installations, including data, voice, and video systems.

  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans and maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

  • Manage cellular carrier plans and equipment purchases.

  • Responsible for purchasing printing supplies and other technology supplies.

  • Available for on-call support

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 5+ Years of experience supporting IT Operations infrastructure environments.

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related discipline is required.

  • Understanding of hardware/software testing and troubleshooting methodology.

  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, etc.

  • Professional certification, such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Cisco.

  • Strong communication skills for training and assisting users.
