Job Summary:
BYU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking an IT system administrator to support and compliment the skills of the department's IT manager. This includes mentoring student IT employees, interfacing with faculty and staff, and providing for the IT needs of the department and college office.
What you will be doing:
Linux Server Administration
Manage mission-critical systems
Manage devices for department and college
Web Development
Security
Collaborate with IT manager on upgrades and updates
Current knowledge of the industry and willingness to stay current through professional development
Management Qualifications:
Ability to manage stress and work in a fast-paced environment
Mentoring of Student Employee with the ability to communicate, direct, and provide opportunities for skill development
Ability to respond to and address IT needs satisfactorily for faculty, staff, and student users
Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
Available to address and resolve urgent, after-hours department IT issues
Education and Experience:
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or computer engineering OR four years of experience in system administration and web development
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or computer engineering AND four years of experience in system administration and web development
Industry Knowledge and Ability:
Required
Fluent in Python
Linux Administration
Preferred
Django
PHP
MySQL
Apple Products (working knowledge)
Open Shift, Docker, and other container-related platforms

Approximate Starting Salary: $83,000 - $107,500
