ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Library Director and manages the processes for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of library information technology equipment and systems.

Reports issues with the operation of each library's computer center, local and wide area computer networks, printers, software, telephone help desk, telephone systems, security systems, Audio Video (A/V) equipment, and other information technology equipment and systems to the City's Information Technology department. Meets regularly with Library administration regarding policies, procedures, and operations. Provides support for management and staff as needed.

Serves as the point person for new technology and involved in the training and education Library staff on technical initiatives and advances. Provides knowledge of standards and procedures of information technology as it pertains to the automation of business process analysis. Guides personnel in the identification and evaluation of alternative technological solutions, including business justification and cost analysis.

Develops detailed project plans, service schedules, and creates performance reports to monitor Library project objectives and project status. Maintains contact with external entities, including equipment manufacturers and vendors. Complies with City and Library policies and procedures.

Coordinates with vendors and IT entities on the installation, maintenance, and repair of information technology equipment, systems, and Library applications, including Pharos. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in library IT services. Provides basic operational instructions of information technology equipment for end users.

Manages and delegates service requests to the City's desktop support technicians. Identifies potential risks that may impact project success and develops strategies to mitigate or manage them. Ensures quality resolutions for all service requests.

Prepares information technology Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP). Responsible for the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budget for information technology support functions. Tracks project expenses and CIP/grant funding, making adjustments as needed to ensure costs are controlled. Travels to various locations throughout the city for meetings and to provide information technology support.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with management, staff members, clients, and the general public.

Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment.

Outdoor work will be required to inspect work sites and to meet the public. May be exposed to changing weather conditions, traffic, noises, fumes, weeds, and insects. Travels to and attends various meetings, businesses and work sites across the City.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or in a related field with six (6) years of experience, including installing, maintaining, and repairing information technology equipment and systems; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.

Must have working experience in audiovisual equipment and personal computers. Working experience supporting automated library systems, Ethernet LAN, TCP/IP protocol, telephone systems, and security systems required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment.

CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Certification preferred. Knowledge of and experience with Pharos preferred.
