The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing IT support to faculty, staff, and students in the College of Nursing. This role will involve management, administration and support of complex IT systems and processes. Troubleshoots problems, identifies possible solutions, and resolves technical issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems, business administration or related field and 3 years experience in computer operations or a related field; or equivalency. Experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, or repair.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in information technology, education, office automation, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment or another directly related field. Understanding of video conferencing, basic troubleshooting techniques, protocols, bridging, instructional design and application development are preferred. Experience with service desk software and be familiar with best practices, using and managing BlackBoard, student engagement (TopHat) and Lecture Capture systems (Ensemble, Panopto).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of multiple computer environments, platforms, and technologies. Knowledge of IT problem management methods and practices, and new and innovative customer support methods and technologies and problem-solving skills. Familiarity of complex analytical methods. Ability to plan, implement, and manage service desk management systems designed to effectively recognize, report, track, and resolve problems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, staff and students, and management.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Responsible for providing excellence in the area of IT support for faculty, staff, and students. To include but not limited to, desktop computing, printing, multifunctional equipment, network infrastructure, digital display technology, AV systems, phones, enhanced class and video conference rooms. Attends events to provide video streaming, AV/IT support.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty

Responsible for all aspects of Audio and Video systems and tier I, tier II support of network infrastructure. Troubleshoots complex issues to resolution and works with vendors and central IT to successfully resolve issues that are out of tier I, tier II scope.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty

Onboarding, Offboarding, Training, documentation, asset management/inventory in collaboration with the entire IT team, application management. Supports standard designated research IT needs.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Provides support, maintenance, and administration for network servers, manages data storage needs for both cloud and onsite platforms. Works with end users to determine needs and makes recommendations. Implements solutions.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty

Evaluates and researches IT solutions, recommends new IT models, technology, and strategies to improve the college of nursing's IT environment. Works with partners to facilitate and provide solutions to complex IT problems. Serves as backup for other IT support duties when needed and capable All other duties as assigned.
