SALARY RANGE: $42,255.29 to $65,707.28 annually

WORK LOCATION: City Hall/Municipal Operations Center

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under general supervision of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Deputy CIO, the I.T. SUPPORT SPECIALIST II - ELECTRIC performs a variety of administrative and advanced technical support functions ranging from physical and virtual client computing, application and server-based system support, and regulatory alignment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides support for Low Impact BES Cyber Systems, including developing, maintaining, and administering systems and related documentation and evidence gathering to support NERC compliance.

  • Member of Farmington Electric Utility System (FEUS) Cyber Security Incident Response team; responsible for participating in tests and drills and responding to actual events.

  • Participates in FEUS Reliability and Security committee meetings to provide technical support for Low Impact Cyber Asset compliance standards, including review and recommendations of compliance documentation.

  • Configures and installs laptops for network and remote use; replaces and configures PC hardware components; configures and maintains network servers. Connects clients for proper access to resources.

  • Providing level II and III client side hardware and application support for users at various COF facilities.

  • Assists in the resolution of potential critical server and infrastructure component failures.

  • Coordinate application installs and upgrades between vendor and electric department with the respective divisions.

  • Conducts all job functions with an awareness of security technologies and best practices, making recommendations and implementing security measures to protect data and assets.

  • Provides 24x7x365 support for advanced systems used by the Farmington Electric Utility System.

  • Develops and maintains technical documentation for various IT systems.

  • Providing 24x7 on-call support for critical system and data center issues.

  • Participating on various IT system design, test and implementation project teams.

  • Operating a motor vehicle, travels to various facilities throughout the City

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

May be required to assist other divisions within the IT department on various projects and tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.

This position is covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training.

Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in Information Technology or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as a IT Support Specialist, Systems Administrator or in an advanced technical role is required.

Preferred but not required certifications of CompTIA A+, and Network +, Server +, Security +, and VMware Certified Professional, Various Microsoft Certifications, Other IT Certifications not listed here.

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.

Experience working with Dell Client computing hardware.

Experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11 Client OS.

Experience with Server 2012, 2016, 2019, etc, Server OS.

Advanced knowledge of printers, scanners and other common peripherals.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Core Infrastructure technologies and possess good understanding including but not limited to network concepts, TCP/IP, Routing, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc.

Working knowledge and management of Active Directory 2016.

Working knowledge of Eaton Yukon, Maintenance Connection, Cascade, and utility billing applications, preferred but not required.

Knowledge of Avaya Phone Systems

  • G3 Hardware, Comm Manager 8 and Module Messaging preferred but not required.

Working knowledge IBM AS/400 for purposes of troubleshooting client sessions preferred but not required.

Experience working with an electric or public utility preferred but not required.

Knowledge of security related compliance standards such as NERC CIP or comparable standards such as NIST, NRC, FISMA, PCI etc.

Excellent written and oral communication skills to interface effectively with users in various City departments. Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, local government officials, and outside vendors.

Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations; ability to meet deadlines.

Extensive background check required.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Personal computer and laptop; cable tester/tone generator; tone probe; small hand tools.
