This position is responsible for technical work supporting and maintaining end user devices and systems for internal business customers. With over 2,300 desktop computers, and over 150 applications spread across over 50 county locations; this incumbent will be responsible for resolving customer requests, including troubleshooting and triaging desktop and mobile device related issues. This customer centric position will also be responsible for building and deploying desktop and peripheral hardware and software.

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for an IT Support Engineer Associate.

The full salary range for an IT Support Engineer Associate, including longevity pay, is $28.17 - $39.82 per hour.

The full salary range for an IT Support Engineer, including longevity pay, is$32.45 - $46.24 per hour.

Distinguishing Features of Work

An employee in this class is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of complex Information Technology (IT) service requests and projects; building and maintaining desktop related systems. Duties include analyzing, diagnosing and resolving a variety of complex technology related systems. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

Work Environment

These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled.CONSTANT:Near vision; use fingers; and sit.FREQUENT: Midrange vision, hear within 5 feet and up to 20 feet; grasp; work alone and work inside.OCCASIONAL:Lift and carry up to 10 pounds; far vision; talk/speak; walk; work with others and drive.

Selection Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - IT Support Engineer - Associate (Pass/Fail):

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, informationsystems, software engineering, management information systems, information technology or a closely related field; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in computer science, management information systems, information technology, or a closely related field AND two (2) years full-time paid verifiable experience in desktop administration; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Human Resources Director.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - IT Support Engineer (Pass/Fail):

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, management information systems, information technology or a closely related field AND four (4) years full-time paid verifiable experience in desktop administration; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in computer science, management information systems, information technology, or a closely related field AND six (6) years full-time paid verifiable experience in desktop administration; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Human Resources Director.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license

Preferred qualifications:

  • Microsoft: MTA, MCSA, MCSE
  • CompTIA: A+, Security+, Network+, Security+
  • VMware: VCA, VCP
  • Cisco: CCENT, CCN

Note: At the discretion of the hiring authority, the successful candidate may be considered for appointment at the IT Support Engineer Associate or IT Support Engineer level, contingent on minimum qualifications and department need. This would be determined at the time a job offer is extended.
