Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of General Services, Office of the Associate Director for Administrative Support, the Information Technology Unit. The Department of General Services (DGS) manages the capital improvement and construction program for District government facilities; real property for District government use; management of space in buildings operated or leased by District government for selling and leasing other District real property; and provides building services for facilities owned or operated by the District DGS provides engineering services, custodial services, security services, energy conservation, utilities management, maintenance, inspection, planning, small and large capital repairs and non- structural improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent bridges the gap between data organization and network functionality. You'll strategize and execute data management projects to improve information systems, tackling problems and crafting automated solutions. On the network side, you'll monitor performance, diagnose issues, and recommend solutions to keep everything running smoothly. This includes acquiring necessary equipment, collaborating with vendors on network design, and managing local area network configurations. You'll also administer agency-wide solutions, provide technical support, troubleshoot network problems, and even handle help desk requests. While working under general supervision, you'll act as a technical authority, determining best practices and keeping your supervisor informed. This multifaceted role demands expertise in both data and network management, making you a vital asset for ensuring efficient and effective information systems.
