This position is assigned to the NOC, Division of Information Resources Management. The duty location is Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Information about Fort Wainwright can be found at Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce.

Develops standard operating procedures for a variety of IT hardware tasks or activities.
Modifies, adapts, and/or refines broader guidelines to resolve specific issues and problems; and identifies and researches trends and patterns.
Control current versions and future releases of hardware and applications software, and documenting the physical configuration of the systems.
Plans and coordinates product and equipment installation and lifecycle upgrades, overseeing and resolving administrative and other problems.
Maintains systems integrity and availability anticipating likely capacity or configuration problems and initiating corrective or preventive actions.
Diagnoses and recovers failed systems.
Consults with customers to identify priorities and best approaches for integrating systems administration requirements into daily operations.
Presents in writing or orally to audiences within and external to the organization, identifying priorities and barriers to project accomplishment.

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Managing the installation and integration of systems and software updates or enhancements. Reviewing operating system, web server, database and other logs to ensure system availability. Managing application domains, web servers and internet architecture components. Resolve technical and administrative problems. Troubleshooting system issues. Provides advice and guidance to customers in both written and oral presentations.
In addition to the specialized experience you must include in your resume experience that demonstrates IT related experience in each of the 4-competencies listed below. The experience may be paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification).
