As an Information Technology Specialist (Information Security), you will perform the following duties:
Performing complex tasks associated with the planning, development, management, and enforcement of approved IT and communications architecture in order to ensure alignment with the broader business architecture;
Participating in system integration efforts by working closely with a number of different customers as well as IT professionals in order tomanage a large number of simultaneous deliverables;
Promoting awareness of security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in organizations'visions and goals; and
Ensuring rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of all IT services.

Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
In order to be found minimally qualified for this position, you must meet both the Basic Requirements and Specialized Experience as outlined below:
You must have Information Technology related experience, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification) which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies:
You qualify for the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level performing duties such as:
Evaluating and recommending the acquisition of, implementation of, and dissemination of IT security tools, procedures and practices to protect information assets;
Recommending actions that will minimize security risks; and
Troubleshooting IT security problems that affect the availability of applications.
