Position Description

The IT Specialist will complement the existing Subject Matter Expert (SME) team reporting within the Information Technology Department at Ryder HQ in Miami. The specialist will perform test planning and support for Ryder's FMS (Fleet Management Solutions) maintenance applications. The Specialist serves as liaison between the end users and the technical team. They will work to resolve system issues and understand requirements for new functionality or enhancements to existing system(s). The ideal candidate for this position is someone who comes from Ryder's FMS field maintenance organization. A candidate outside of Ryder would also be considered if they have testing experience in transportation, shop, point of sale, or reservation type applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 (three) years QA work experience

  • Prior work experience in the logistics industry, specifically in the areas of distribution and transportation management

  • Prior work experience with Mercury/HP TestDirector, LoadRunner, Quick Test Pro (QTP) Applications

  • Experience in SQL

  • Advanced PC skills to include in Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Access

  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, QA process and procedure

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The person selected for this position will coordinate meetings with business and application owner's to obtain an understanding of the solution being implemented

  • Development of test plans to meet business requirements and to thoroughly test the IT solution being implemented

  • Execution of test plans for application as well as integration testing

  • Produce documentation in accordance with Ryder's Testing Methodology, as well as communication of testing status

Manage Continuous Improvement deployment using fundamentals of Lean and Six Sigma * Plan, lead and facilitate brainstorming/ideation events, process mapping events, Kaizen/improvement events and Six Sigma teams * Complete event planning, perform pre-work, facilitate teams and support event closure and follow-up through Project Management and measurement tracking * Develop standards of performance based on process innovation and best-in class practices * Manage the preparation, development and publishing of Continuous Improvement materials to include detailed process documentation, process maps and training (webinar) materials.
