This position is located with 377 Theater Sustainment Command, Information, 377 Mission Support Element in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

Responsibilities

  • Determine if automated processes are valid

  • Implement developed strategies and management guidelines for distributed processing systems

  • Develop computer databases, using stand-alone and networked database applications to record, analyze and manage data

  • Design data structures to implement the database designs

  • Manage the IT requirements in a shared processing environment for functionally distinct groups within the command

  • Determine what software must be reprogrammed or reconfigured

  • Configure new computer hardware systems and sub-systems

  • Configure new standard computer software products

  • Edit new employee and existing user profiles

  • Analyze cabling requirements and problems

  • Provide help-desk type assistance and technical advice to staff members and supported customers

  • Analyze manual automated systems, processes, and functions

  • Determine reengineering and/or automation

  • Perform Network Administrator duties as required

  • Schedule network backups

  • Act as Network Administrator for a local area network

  • Analyze existing automated systems

  • Supports analysis with narrative descriptions and programming specifications

  • Develop expertise in supported computer applications

  • Analyze computer problems to determine if related to software or hardware

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees

Specialized Experience

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
1.Attention to Detail

  • Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products or services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3.Oral Communications

  • Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4.Problem Solving

  • Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience GS-11

In addition to meeting the above requirement, applicants must possess specialized experience.

Specialized experience is defined as: work that involves receiving, reviewing, and resolving computer/IT related problems; troubleshooting automated systems or hardware to diagnose malfunctions; and maintaining status of reports of open and closed help desk tickets. This work must show that the applicant used attention to detail, oral communication, problem solving, and customer service. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-09.

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: as Information Systems Management and Technology Management.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-09.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Administration and Management

  • Customer Service

  • Network Management

  • Technical Competence

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education
