Information Technology Software Developer IV, The University of Tennessee System

The Opportunity

The University is seeking an experienced Information Technology Software Developer to create and maintain enterprise solutions based on the Microsoft Cloud platform. This position is part of a team that performs analysis, design, modification, development, testing, and documentation of complex software solutions (custom-developed and purchased software solutions, enhancements, and interfaces/integrations). The team is currently migrating from legacy platforms (e.g. ColdFusion/Apex) to the Azure Cloud and Power Apps environment. The successful candidate will help formulate the new environment, plan the migration, test the migration process, and redevelop solutions as needed to operate efficiently in the Azure Cloud environment. The candidate will then develop and support solutions which address a range of business needs including forms, portals, collaboration sites, workflow, document management, and business intelligence / reporting.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Modifies and implements software designs, oversees development of test plans and testing of software (in-house, purchased, or enhanced purchased software) solutions of high complexity

  • Builds software interfaces/integrations between various software packages and/or applications

  • Develops reports using data from multiple sources, ensuring all data is synchronized and correct

  • Analyzes business processes and prioritizes user development requirements to achieve maximum efficiency in software for projects committed

  • Performs maintenance, upgrades, and testing of purchased software solutions

  • Develops documentation to complete assignments

  • Communicates with users about requirements and conveys progress on task

  • Stays abreast of changes to UT policy and state and federal regulatory changes

  • Manages and maintains complex software solutions with a significant level of independence

  • Performs moderate to advanced level problem analysis on software solutions

  • Researches, trains, and leads new technology initiatives as requested

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant applications software development experience or a combination of 3 years of experience and one or more Microsoft certifications such as Power Platform Developer or Power Platform App Maker. The successful candidate must also possess strong communication and customer service skills. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Desired Skills

Preference will be given to individuals with:

  • Demonstrated project experience developing solutions in Microsoft PowerApps or .NET.

  • Demonstrated project experience developing solutions using the Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate / Flow, Power BI).

  • Demonstrated skill in researching and analyzing complex problems and developing innovative solutions.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Client Services, this position is responsible for supervising and coordinating Client Services staff functions during regular business hours and emergency service hours. Supervises LACS reception teams' members. Coordinates work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for the area. Approves requests for time off and performs annual performance reviews for team members. Works closely with the specialty services to resolve requests that fall outside of normal operating procedures. This is a working supervisor position and will participate fully in reception and other Client Services duties. Acts in the absence of the Client Services Manager. Duties will include scheduling staff for holiday and administrative closing days. Typical Responsibilities: Supervision and coordination * Ensure timely, accurate, and efficient completion of work assignments * Directly supervise workers assigned to the LACS Reception team * Review and approve time entry and leave requests for team members * Perform annual performance reviews for scheduling team members * Work with Client Services manager in the evaluation, justification, recommendation, and selection of equipment and supplies for the scheduling area * Perform audits and review work performed to ensure accuracy, completion, and adherence to unit's procedures * Respond to moderately difficult, non-routine inquiries that arise during emergency service hours * May respond to client complaints * Work with Client Services manager to plan, develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols related to scheduling * Provide input related to unit's budget * Responsible for maintaining the current patient list in the Web HCS * Act in the absence of the Client Services Manager during emergency service hours * Provide answering service with on-call schedule for overnight phone coverage. Communication and Facilitation * Answer calls and facilitate communications from veterinarians and clients * Triage incoming phone calls/requests for appointments to determine if emergent, urgent, or routine referral. Direct calls based on case needs as per protocols * Facilitate client communication with specialty services/ECC to answer questions as per standard operating procedure. * Monitor Client Services email ticket system. Respond in a timely manner or delegate to appropriate personnel per standard operating procedures. * Advise referring practices and clients about Hospital policies * Facilitate requests from outside veterinarians to consultations with VMC specialty ECC veterinarians * Address non-routine requests Reception, Scheduling, and phones * Schedule appointments for referring veterinarian's patients and client's pets * Verify owner, patient, and referring information and Initiate client, patient, and referring veterinarian records within the Web HCS database. * Research cases for follow up visits to ensure correct scheduling. Review previous Discharge Instructions, Client communications. * Act as Liaison and client advocate between client, veterinarians, and technicians to ensure client and veterinarian scheduling needs are addressed * Work closely with the Hospital and Field Services sections to insure understand needs and ensure consistency in scheduling appointment * Advise answering service of any last minute changes in duty roster for overnight coverage Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an office or other customer service setting Preferred Qualifications: * Minimum 3 years' experience in veterinary or human medical office or hospital * Appointment scheduling experience in a medical office setting * Previous supervisory experience University Of Tennessee Knoxville TN
