Position Description:

The ideal candidate will enjoy success as an IT software asset manager across the Allegion Enterprise.

The role requires the ability to effectively operate in a blended environment of business and technical personnel of various levels across a fast-paced global organization focused on growth. The software asset manager will engage as a leader in the Global IT organization with cross-team participation within the Enterprise IT.

The software asset manager will need to actively engage cross-functionally with many IT and business areas such as Infrastructure, Global Architecture, Enterprise Applications, Engineering, Regional IT teams, HR, Corporate Communications, and Legal. The organizational breadth of the position spans the global Allegion enterprise with particular focus on assuring software license compliance and optimal license deployments across Allegions global IT footprint.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that maintenance, support and upgrade protection renewals are managed/handled/ordered in advance of their expiration, and maintain current budget reporting for all titles. Provide oversight and follow through in multiple business systems to assure contracts, approvals, invoices and payments are processed correctly and in timely manner.

  • Maintain current information for all corporate managed software titles, including: budgeting, compliance reporting and contracting strategies.

  • Assure license compliance. Manage engagements with third party providers that help track specific license compliance issues for specific titles, and coordinate contract deliverables. Act as primary point of contact for any third party license compliance inquiries or audits.

  • Optimize license deployments. Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services. Follow through with vendors and stakeholders to obtain identified savings.

  • Work with procurement team on licensing strategies and negotiations. Manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.

  • Utilize business and industry knowledge to improve the maturity of Software Asset Management (SAM) function. Work with cross-functional team to implement improvements to foundational Service Asset and Configuration Management (ITIL SACM) practices.

  • Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management data information

Skills Profile:

  • Versatile and experienced in managing a complex license portfolio across a diverse deployment landscape.

  • Proficient in the development and delivery budget and license compliance reporting.

  • Proven record as a collaborative consensus-builder driving to meet business objectives, including but not limited to issue escalation, license risk management, and dispute resolution

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and make quality decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Customer-focused

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work as a team member and independently to plan workloads and deliver on commitments

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills

  • Experience managing competing priorities successfully

  • Learning agility, including a demonstrated ability to pick up and master business and technical subject matters quickly

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and gain the respect and cooperation of both technology and business leaders

  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to drive technical projects to solve business problems

  • Ability to effectively present in front of a variety of audiences at all levels of the organization

Position qualification:

  • Required: ten

  • years of experience as Software Asset Manager in a diverse, global environment

  • Required: B.S. in Computer Science, MIS or Business or a related discipline

  • Preferred relevant industry certifications related to the position or other relevant discipline
