I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.
I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

IT Senior Associate
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Virtualization & Storage (VMware) Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the virtual infrastructure focusing on the VMware platform. Performs system administration of the VMware infrastructure, Dell & Cisco hardware including Cisco Hyperflex systems. The Virtualization & Storage Engineer is responsible for hands-on engineering activities and resolves incidents and problems related to storage & VMware systems, software & hardware upgrade.
Job duties include but not limited to the following:
Responsible for VMware administration for all four4 sites including system enhancement, new installation & configuration of both servers & storage system.
Performs routine monitoring of both server & storage hardware & ensure they are optimally tuned.
Analyzes system requirements in response to capacity planning to support user community.
Automate the work-load based on best practices.
Proactively identify the root cause of both hardware & software issues and get them resolved in a timely manner.
Follow change management process & keep log of all the changes.
Contributes towards Disaster recovery planning including developing runbook and reference architecture.
Perform analysis for VMWARE environment (ESX Hosts & Virtual Center) including all Windows & Linux VM's.
Maintain and restore VM backups and snapshots.
Performs knowledge transfer session as needed.
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
Understanding of network skills such as DHCP/DNS/IPAM basic routing & firewall.
Understand how to test any new changes prior to implementing on production system & do design validation.
Understanding of Infrastructure design and planning from a virtualization & storage perspective involving large scale clusters.
3+ years of experience with VMWARE ESX & SAN (EMC, Pure, Compellent) is a must.
VMWARE design, integration & implementation.
Knowledge of Dell & EMC storage hardware.
Expertise in multiple areas as it relates to data center architecture including SAN, iSCSI, Flash, convergence/hyper-convergence.
Working knowledge of brocade SAN switches is a must.
Knowledge of disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, firmware is a must.
Knowledge of Hyper-V is a plus.
Working knowledge of Powershell and Python is a plus.
Knowledge of VMWARE vRealize Suite of products and NSX is huge plus.
Strong analytical, diagnostics and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently.
Strong experience in Windows and VMWARE system Engineering.
LAN/WAN networking experience.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
