The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) is the state's lead office for information technology. We provide enterprise level information technology services including network management and security; computer operations; application hosting; desktop provisioning and management; and, modern and responsive digital services to 40,000 internal stakeholders plus the residents, business owners and visitors to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security is seeking to hire a Security Operations Specialist to join the EOTSS Network and Security Services Team. Our customers include all Executive Branch secretariats and agencies, judicial branch, legislative branch and others at various levels of local, state and federal government.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd tier support for all enterprise security systems.

  • Troubleshoot security and network related issues. Provide end to end resolution or support of all network and security related incidents by utilizing, network, monitoring and security tools and resources. This includes joint resolution with our applications, systems and engineering teams, multiple vendors and customers.

  • Investigate, analyze, coordinate and report on all security events, incidents and intrusions; track incidents through analysis, diagnosis, correction and resolution

  • Review and implement policy, DNS and other security related changes to support our internet, intranet, extranet, cloud and WAN environments.

  • Manage the internal VPN solution and perform remote troubleshooting when needed.

  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional IT teams as well as non-IT business units as required

  • Conduct training On-line and off site for checkpoint and other technologies.

  • Where and when applicable the engineer is responsible for onsite resolution to firewall outages when such problems cannot be resolved remotely.

The primary work location for this role will be at 200 Arlington Street Chelsea, Massachusetts 02150. The work schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM.

All offers of employment into this position are conditional and subject to passing: a Massachusetts Criminal Background Check (CORI); a security clearance (fingerprinting) consistent with IRS and/or public safety requirements; and security training.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum three years' experience in an IT related role within security operations and network management.

  • Minimum three years' hands-on experience working with Checkpoint.

  • Deep knowledge of Operating Systems, Network infrastructure and IT Security solutions

  • Working knowledge of incident management, case management and investigation practices

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the following skillsets:

  • VPN's

  • DNS

  • DHCP

  • Wireless services and authentication

  • Cloud infrastructure

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio)

  • Proficiency with Checkpoint Firewalls / rule changes

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with VPN configuration and support

  • Experience with DNS and DHCP configuration and management

  • Previous experience with vendor management and coordinating vendor activities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • CompTIA Security , Network , CySA , SSCP, CISSP, CEH, or CASP certifications are a plus.
