JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing a group of quality assurance analysts who evaluate, test, and validate software and/or IT services. Develops and implements quality assurance problem reporting processes and systems. Designs and implements testing strategies and defect reporting processes. This position supports the IAS Software Development Lifecycle and makes recommendations to improve test and product quality. This position will work closely with IT and operational leadership to provide support and status on test efforts on IAS initiatives. The position provides management with analysis and recommendations to reduce defects and improve application quality.

This is a non-remote position. Accepting local candidates only.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.):

  • Lead and guide the quality assurance team while fostering a continuous improvement approach to QA activities

  • Collaborate with project team to gain an understanding of project requirements as well as with the resolution of issues discovered during testing

  • Design and oversee execution of test plans and test script development working with IT and operational resources

  • Participate in project prioritization, scheduling, resource planning and assignment

  • Coordinate and maintain User Acceptance Testing processes working with operational resources and clients

  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to scheduled timelines.

  • Design and implement automated testing techniques and processes to continually improve and expand the use of automated testing

  • Facilitate project triage, testing status and Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings

  • Identifies and communicates to management risks and mitigation approaches for issues found during testing cycle

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a group of quality assurance analysts who evaluate, test, and validate software and/or IT services. Manages team performance, provide guidance, sets and communicates expectations and conduct reviews. Directs work assignments, measures results and initiates personnel actions as required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training

  • 4+ years of management experience in a similar technical and business environment

  • Experience in T-SQL query language

  • Experience in Insurance industry, specifically as it relates to health products


  • Self-motivated, proactive, creative and efficient in identifying issues and understanding and proposing solutions

  • Knowledge of testing of the following coding languages/contructs (A NET, Three tier .NET architecture, Web Services, SQL and SSIS programming, Linux shell, COBOL

  • Experience with defect tracking tools, reports, metrics, knowledge of JIRA management and administration is a plus

  • Knowledge of automated testing tools, experience with Selenium is a plus

  • Ability to understand and work closely with other departments, teams and employees

  • Knowledge of the software development processes and its technologies

  • Display flexibility with priorities within a dynamic work environment

Develops and maintains a quality system to assure that all products provided by suppliers meet AAR and end-user specifications- and are suitable for their intended use. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership to personnel through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication. Aligns goals of the department with the Companys goals, policies and strategies. Supports the quality assurance program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products. Develops and maintains a published supplier quality index in conjunction with the supplier review board to ensure that only high quality vendors are retained. Maintains the facilitys Corrective and Preventative Action System. Acts as the focal with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required. Prepares for and represents the company during all ISO 9000, U.S. Government, defense department, and customer quality audits. Conducts ISO internal audits on-site. Performs ISO audits at other AAR facilities as assigned. Prepares all necessary reports as required by customers and staff personnel -progress, status, productivity . Functions as chairperson of the facility Supplier Review Board. Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures. Ensures that all incoming transfers and RMRs are processed properly. Assist Quality Control personnel in reviewing and updating department standards. Promotes the pursuit of continuous improvement. Administers effective training and on-the-job training of Quality Assurance personnel. Develops policies and procedures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the maintenance effort, maximizing product reliability and safety, while lowering costs. Travel is required.
