Project Manager I

The Project Manager plans, organizes and controls large size projects from project initiation thru project completion. The Project Manager has an expert knowledge of the practices, concepts, and procedures related to the Project Manager role, and understand the methodology, tools, and governance in performing this role. The Project Manager leads and directs the work of others, acts as a liaison between IT and the users, and typically reports to a Manager, Department Head and Insight Management Team. The Project Manager may assist the Insight sales team in building and maintaining valuable relationships with new and existing clients.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years experience as a Project Manager.

  • 4+ years IT experience.

  • 4+ years SDLC experience.

  • Requirements Management experience using RequisitePro, Excel, or TestDirector.

  • Document Repository experience using Microsoft Sharepoint, Wiki, RUP Builder, HTML Web Application or Custom tools.

  • Project Management experience using Microsoft Project Professional or Microsoft Project Server.

  • Working methodology experience using Agile.

  • Experience managing a team of 7+ resources.

  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting

  • Experience with project risk, defect and issue management.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Experience in Change Management, Software Configuration Management, and Quality Management.

  • Effective communication between business units and IT.

  • Successful track record of managing large full-scale projects (enterprise wide) for insurance, banking, government, or financial services companies.

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years experience.

  • Training and Mentoring

  • PMP certification

  • Six Sigma, CMM or TQM experience

  • Formal training in Project Management, UML/SDLC, Requirements Management, Estimating or Quality Assurance

Job Overview The IT Project Manager will be responsible for end to end management of critical projects including the creation and management of projects, timelines, scheduling, and reporting within the EIS Information Technology department. The IT Project Manager is responsible for providing the project leadership, direction, consulting and predictability to the overall project. The IT Project Manager must have a broad knowledge of industry best practices and be able to proactively identity potential risks in order to advise and consult with leadership on mitigation strategies. Responsibilities * Work with IT department leads (Security, Infrastructure, Applications, Digital) to build and manage detailed project plans that align with the overall IT strategy * Manage all phases of project including scope and requirements, key milestones and timelines, risks, planning, execution, monitoring, budget and communication * Deliver clear project scorecards that measure success and illuminate risk * Prepare project status reports and regularly present project performance updates to technical team meetings with IT leadership, team members, and stakeholders, to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects * Take ownership of issues; propose and drive appropriate resolution * Automate project notifications to both stakeholders and the IT team * Determine and define clear deliverables and milestones that are fair to both the stakeholders and the team members * Promotes project vision and objectives through effective communication * Build productive working relationships Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Project Management or related technical field required * Minimum of 3 years' experience managing IT Projects * Professional Project Management Certification from accredited intuition preferred * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate with all levels of an organization * A management level understanding of the technical work being performed * Demonstrated understanding of Project Management processes, strategies and methods * Experience building projects in Smartsheets with notification capability * Demonstrated proficiency in PowerPoint to deliver steering committee updates * Excellent time management and organizational skills * Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality * Excellent consultative and conflict resolution skills * Ability to be flexible as to practices or work methods in response to changes or new obstacles on a project.
