About the Role: The IT Project Manager is the IT representative that collaborates with a cross functional team of business users to envision, plan and write user stories for internal and external application development projects. This person works directly with an agile team of developers and QA engineers to complete the application/project through an iterative process. The role encompasses managing projects from a product owner perspective as well as the point of contact for new requests, to analyze these requests for system scope and impact, and to document them. As part of interfacing with end users the job includes facilitating regular playbacks during the agile product lifecycle, notifying people when projects are implemented, and working with the Communications department to document the system updates. In addition, there will also be a component of helping to organize and manage daily scrums with the currently assigned agile project team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with IT development and cross functional resources to define, scope, prioritize, and delivery key projects

  • Manage full life cycle of complex IT projects and track progress of projects through the lifecycle

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to monitor and report on progress

  • Define project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Ensure that IT project plans, estimates, documents, and features are on schedule

  • Identify resource conflicts, then influence and facilitate course corrections to fulfill key project milestones

  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

  • Provide timely project status updates, risks, and issues to all stakeholders

  • Interface with end users to collect and understand project requests

  • Document incoming requests for new projects or changes to existing projects

  • Interface with developers and business project team members regarding project estimates, timeframes, etc.

  • Analyze projects for business and system impact and scope

  • Work with the Communication and Training departments to generate end user training materials and documentation

  • Complete timely and consistent project reporting such as: project status; new or outstanding issues, risks, actions and decisions; upcoming or late tasks and deliverables

  • Establish, build, and maintain working relationships with project stakeholders, project team members, vendors, and other departments as necessary to encourage teamwork and enable effective collaboration

About You:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development Project Management or comparable function

  • Demonstrated knowledge in all facets of project management including, but not limited to: development and utilization of project schedules, resource plans, risk and issue plans, communication plans, and change management plans

  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices

  • Knowledge of at least one software development lifecycle management methodology: Waterfall, Iterative, or Agile

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands to achieve objectives within resource constraints

  • Ability to work collaboratively across all departments and levels of leadership

  • Ability to understand and document business practices and procedures

  • Ability to react quickly and responsively to many requests

  • Well organized, detail oriented and very thorough

  • Self-starter and self-accountable

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus

  • Experience with software development a plus
