General Summary

The primary role of the DSD Sales Technology Project Manager is the overall management of projects and initiatives within the DSD Sales Technology Service Domain. This includes the definition, planning, coordination and successful execution of each project - on time, on budget and within scope in a manner that maximizes the value of project deliverables to the service domain customer while minimizing risk to the company. At a minimum, the following will be required to succeed in this role.

  • Possess extensive knowledge of modern project management methodologies with the ability to use hybrid approaches when necessary as dictated by project, circumstance and best practices

  • Manage project expectations, business requirements, scope, commitments, budget and resource management

  • Work with service domain customers and stakeholders to understand the business requirements of every project and deliver comprehensive solutions that meet the long-term business need, not just the expedient initial request

  • Work closely with the service delivery manager to ensure that project deliverables meet committed project timelines, exceed expectations and are deployed effectively.

  • Work closely with other functional teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional technical requirements and interdependencies, as well as timelines, expectations and criteria for success

  • Work in conjunction with the PMO and other project managers to adhere to company project management requirements, such as using the current project management toolset, attending periodic PMO meetings, conducting project presentations/education, as well as providing periodic status reporting

  • Work in an Agile Methodology, whereby work is designed and delivered in fully-functional phases where each phase will build on the previous until the entire project has been accomplished

  • Understand and champion an exceptional Customer Experience; versus providing basic project management

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete all projects on time, on budget and within scope

  • Establish and enforce strong change management processes and protocols

  • Establish and support proper communications channels and protocols between all project principals

  • Effective resource management of accountable projects while working across the IT function project portfolio to manage constraints

  • Deliver effective updates to senior functional and business leadership on a routine basis effectively communicating progress, risks, issues, budget tracking and project plan

  • Follow established company processes for socializing projects, completing project authorizations and gaining acceptance, buy-in and approval by the appropriate leaders

  • Follow established professional project management practices, such as maintaining accurate and prioritized milestones list, task lists, risk registers, issues logs, decision logs, high-level WBS, etc.

  • Establish relationships with service domain customers, stakeholders, other project managers, service delivery manager and all team members to ensure successful project execution

  • Engage with service domain customers, stakeholders and service delivery manager to collect project requirements, negotiate realistic expectations and deliver exceptional solutions based on complex and competing requirements

  • Engage with service domain customers, stakeholders, service delivery manager and team members to prioritize and schedule all project requests

  • Engage with cross-functional leaders and SMEs to coordinate deliverables to the service domain necessary for the proper execution of projects, as well as coordinate shared resources and talents.

  • Engage with vendors and off-shore resources to coordinate tasks responsibilities, timelines and deliverables

  • Ensure that all stated project goals are achieved; in the event of underperformance ensure that solutions are implemented to correct and prevent future deficiencies

  • Understand and enforce proper pre-deployment testing, including conducting UAT and infrastructure pressure testing prior to all deployments

  • Understand and enforce SOX compliance during all phases of the project

  • Alert leadership immediately when events transpire that jeopardize the project, its execution or outcomes

  • Take a leadership role in the planning, execution and support of the DSD integration and transformation efforts currently underway throughout the company, including but not limited to the following:

  • Snyder's-Lance integration projects, such as Oracle to SAP migration

  • Snyder's-Lance and Pepperidge Farm DSD Sales Technology Team integration efforts

  • DSD Mobile Transformation Project

  • Pepperidge Farm Depot Project

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field with 5-8 years of experience in professional project management managing technical projects in a complex business environment adhering to project management principles

Business Competencies

  • Good understanding of DSD business principles, practices and processes in the CPG industry preferred

  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral, able to convey complex technical ideas, symbology and jargon into terms appropriate for business decision-makers

  • Understand transformation and business alignment in a complex and changing business environment

  • Excellent change management skills

  • Ability to speak the language of business and understand its context

  • Accomplished in establishing business partnerships

  • Experience managing vendors and off-shore resources

  • Accomplished in learning new business concepts and devising solutions to meet those needs

  • Must possess excellent planning, prioritization, organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements

  • Experience working with the business to establish measurable business outcomes and follow through to verify success or failure

Technical Competencies

  • Must possess extensive knowledge of modern professional project management methodologies with the ability to use hybrid approaches when necessary

  • Professional Project Management certification is strongly desired; PMP certification is preferred. Must have experience in the 5 project lifecycle stages:

  • Initiation

  • Planning

  • Execution

  • Monitoring & Control

  • Closure

  • Must be able to generate, present and discuss complex project management documents and charts, such as:

  • Gantt chart

  • PERT chart

  • Pareto chart

  • RACI chart

  • Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)

  • Extensive experience collecting both business and technical requirements

  • Extensive experience generating WBS at both high and low levels

  • Good understanding of web-based technologies, capabilities and operations

  • Good understanding of mobile computing technologies, capabilities and operations

  • Good understanding of consumer-grade tablet capabilities, setup and delivery

  • Good understanding of the data requirements necessary to support mobile computing

  • Good understanding of the data transmission processes necessary to support mobile computing

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and OneNote

  • Excellent working knowledge of project management tools, such as Clarity or SharePoint

The incumbent in this position will actively supervise and support a team who interfaces with faculty, staff and students as well as oversee projects at CMSRU as well as other University locations as needed. Required Qualifications: * Bachelors degree. An Associate Degree with two years experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree. * Four (4) years of professional experience directly related to the above job responsibilities with at least one year experience experience as a manager or team lead. A Master's degree may be substituted for professional experience. * Excellent written and verbal communications and customer service skills. * Demonstrable technical knowledge working with both hardware and software.
