The Department of Finance is a regulatory agency with 67 full-time employees. It is centrally located near downtown Boise and the greenbelt. There are advantages to working for a modest sized agency, especially when working for our IT team. Not only will the incumbent receive one-on-one personalized training and mentoring from a seasoned database professional, the incumbent will benefit from a broad range of professional experiences and a wide variety of tasks, including managing projects from start to finish.
The preferred applicant will have experience with VMware, Database Back Up or Back Up Systems and knowledge of System Design & Maintenance, Software & Database Administration and Event/Error Log Reading. Please include any education or experience with these on your exam.
The selected applicant must pass a credit and fingerprint criminal history background check prior to appointment.
Maintaining and supporting proprietary in-house and vendor developed applications.
Working with end users to determine needs and software solutions, plan projects, and assisting with server, desktop and other support as needed.
Analyzing, designing, developing, testing and implementing new applications, effectively using established programming development methodologies and tools.
Troubleshooting problems with applications, finding and implementing fixes or new solutions.
Creating and/or modifying databases to provide the data required by applications.
Creating documentation for agency applications and training employees and/or contractors.
Developing and maintaining Windows and Web applications in a .Net environment.
Working collaboratively on projects with a multi-disciplinary team, including contractors and vendors.
Operating under the supervision of senior team members while completing the training plan and assuming increased responsibility for task/project completion.
Some knowledge of systems design
Experience designing programs and performing analysis
Experience writing program documentation in accordance with published standards
Experience writing in one or more commonly used programming languages (writing code) or in 5th generation languages appropriate for multi-use/multi-tasking environments
(Specialty Required) Development experience with the .NET framework and/or SQL Server
