Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security.
Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Conduct detailed alternative analyses and determine end-user requirements through consultation with end-users, technicians, vendors, management, and others.
Maintain documentation related to the assigned IT specialization's architecture, operations, and other records of work activities as required.
Maintain current knowledge of technological trends and advancements in the IT field as well as security management practices, laws, policies, and ethics.
Participate in recommending and justifying resource allocations and expenditure decisions, tracking and recording expenditures, preparing purchase requests, and writing technical requirements for grant proposals.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform IT technical work in help desk support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; monitor devices; setup basic jobs as required; use basic job control language and scheduling as required; take calls and log messages as required; determine who is resolving an issue; maintain routine logs; replace backup media; and routinely consult manuals and procedures.
This position is located in our Carson City office at 555 Wright Way, within our information Technology division, Production Control group.
The division is comprised of four distinct work groups: Applications, Systems, Production Control and Networks.
The IT Professional 1 in Production Control functions as a Computer Help Desk Supervisor assisting with help desk functions for the Northern and Southern Nevada regional offices.
The incumbent will work with the help desk application databases, prepare management reports using database information and track help desk calls to identify and troubleshoot issues.
This position provides timely resolution to users with network, applications, system or local hardware problems.
The position requires that you perform program support and maintenance and is responsible for creating, maintaining and terminating network user ID, DMV application ID and administering the security card key program.
The IT Professional 1 is responsible for all Help Desk programs and the supervision of three IT Technicians.
This job requires a work shift of 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
There is some early morning, late night and weekend work required from time to time, especially when the incumbent is performing on-call duty or must cover for other shifts.
DMV shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under the Real ID regulation, which includes Espionage, Sedition, Treason, Terrorism, Transportation Security Incident, Improper Transportation of a Hazardous Material, Unlawful Possession of Explosives, Murder, Making any Threat Concerning a Lethal Device, Racketeering.
Additional Real ID criteria provides that the DMV shall not employ a person if they have been convicted of a felony within 7 years of their application or if an applicant was released from incarceration for one of these crimes within five years of their application including Unlawful Firearm Violations, Extortion, Fraud, Closing Date/Time:
