Hello! We are seeking an IT Portfolio Analyst to join our client's growing team in Chicago, IL.

The IT Portfolio Analyst performs analysis activities that support the decision making regarding matching technology solutions (package selection, configuration, development) with business, user, and functional needs from stakeholders. This involves conducting market research, functional comparisons, and staying abreast of what is being done in the industry. The analyst will also gather requirements, document procedures, and review the current processes.

The IT Portfolio Analyst partners with the appropriate business stakeholders and the IT Portfolio Manager to prioritize and create a project roadmap for their assigned area. With the business and IT teams, they maintain a set of institutional knowledge of what is working well within the program and what needs improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand and prioritize their needs.

  • Analyze and consolidate all perspectives on the project business needs, requirements, user experience, security, training, risk, time, cost, technology architecture, procurement/vendor management, operational considerations, etc.

  • Manage the lifecycle of their assigned products, from inception to implementation, throughout production until retirement / upgrade.

  • Gather business requirements from project stakeholders to further define goals and objectives.

  • Drive projects and business teams toward achieving intended business results within a specified time and budget.

  • Stay abreast of best practices at other firms and applicable technology developments.

  • Seek input of user experience and document current procedures and processes to determine potential improvements to their assigned products.

  • Perform risk analyses to identify and resolve critical path issues.

  • Prepare and analyze program/project related data.

  • Review and report on program/project status.

  • Prepare materials for briefings and presentations to key decision makers at the executive level

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in current technology trends

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Able to work harmoniously and effectively with others

  • Able to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion

  • Able to work under pressure

The Business Operations team is a shared resource that supports all functions within IT. This role is within the the sub-team of Technology Business Management team (TBM) whose specific objectives are as follows: * Drive accountability to financial commitments by providing the right information to enable decision making and visibility to results * Implement and maintain a financial structure that enables ownership of budget for IT leaders * Simplify financial processes and tools to reduce effort and enable faster execution of external spend * Produce & maintain a financial showback model that provides transparency for business partners to the financial effect of IT decisions. * Maintain a portfolio financial management framework that enables re-prioritization and the most effective utilization of IT investment dollars. Job Description The primary purpose of this role is to enable decision making related to the IT Investment Portfolio (project work) by driving business case development, providing timely and accurate information related to planned, forecasted, and actual spend by project and measuring business value realization. It requires close coordination with project leads/managers. Primary responsibilities include: * Drive sound business case development by working closely with program lead to ensure business benefits are clearly and accurately articulated. Ensure that financial and resource requirements are appropriately captured in the business case. * Maintain a portfolio (inventory) of all projects with status and provide tracking and version control of all business case documents. * Maintain a Portfolio financial management framework for all IT Investment spend (to ensure costs are reported accurately and to drive project team accountability to budget) * Perform financial approval for all project related external spend. * Provide reporting of project budget, forecast (demand), commitments (expenditures), and actuals by project/program, and by fiscal quarter/ year (3 year view). * Coordinate approval of changes in project budget. * Provide all necessary financial information to enable IT leadership decision making related to Investment projects. * Build the IT Investment budget in support of the annual financial planning process. * Simplify financial processes and tools to reduce effort and enable faster execution of external investment spend * Support and understand the showback model that provides transparency for business partners to the financial effect of IT investment decisions. * Measure and report the value that is realized from each project in close coordination with the project owner/sponsor.
