The Electronic Services Division (ESD) supports all goals, most directly Sustaining and Enhancing agency infrastructure and business processes, by improving collaborative outcomes between WSP business and technology divisions, using consistent planning processes, increasing business continuity capabilities, and providing quality communication services.This position is responsible for the administration of the WSP Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network whose primary responsibility is to transport critical public safety communications statewide. It is the subject matter expert for the MPLS network including the fault alarms systems and Local Area Network (LAN) devices that support WSP communications sites. This includes planning, configuring, monitoring and maintaining the hardware and services services within the MPLS network for the WSP and outside agencies as well as managing the divisions fault alarm monitoring systems, monitoring the MPLS Network web page, managing various SQL databases, server management and LAN system maintenance. This position also administers access control to the fault alarm system and the microwave radio monitoring systems.

Our new teammate will be able to:

  • Act as a MPLS expert to Network Engineering staff.

  • Serve as technical mentor, coach and trainer to staff.

  • Provide management with recommendations for integration of new features and technologies with regard to the MPLS network.

  • Manage, implement, administer and troubleshoot the agencies MPLS network.

  • Configures, maintains and modifies various software used to monitor the agencies infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and abilities (usually attained within seven plus years) with the following service technologies:

  • Time Division Multiplex (TDM) Circuits (includes T1, D0 and T1 timing)

  • PTP (IEEE 1588-2008)

  • Ethernet services (includes IEEE 802, and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN)

  • Quality of Service (QoS)

  • Virtual Private LAN Switching (VPLS)

  • Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN)

  • Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)

  • Network routing protocols

  • UNIX/Linux; Unix Scripting

  • SQL database management; SQL queries

  • Domain Name System (DNS)

  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

  • HP Integrated Lights Out Management (iLO)

  • Visual Basic Scripting Language (VBScript)

  • Microsoft Excel

NOTE: This is not a full-time telework position. Candidates must be able and willing to work in the office and commute to here. A hybrid work schedule may be available after training and/or probationary period has been successfully completed.
