Job Overview

The Agile Delivery Lead leverages their deep understanding of agile values and principles in modern software and product development space to shape how agile teams work, learn, and innovate. The role leverages agile skillsets to build a continuous product delivery pipeline by strengthening teams' development practices, reduce waste and improve efficiency. Agile Delivery Leads assist in building strong agile teams and help shape a culture of continuous learning and continuous improvement. They act as servant leaders for the teams, enabling an environment with a focus on speed of delivery, transparency and quality. They mentor the team on best development practices and encourage individual and team growth.

Core Responsibilities

Customer Centered

  • Lead the charge on building mature agile teams, foster inter-team collaboration and the culture of continuous learning and continuous improvement across the organization.

  • Collaborate with Product Management on building product roadmaps, establishing delivery milestones and identifying technical enables

  • Mentor teams and individuals on best practices for code quality, reduction of technical debt, use of simple design constructs, planning process, execution and continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.

  • Supports teams by helping them remove systemic impediments and implementing continuous improvement items

  • Assist the teams with PI Planning readiness and Pre- and Post-PI Planning activities.

  • Support the teams and ARTs to successfully execute their vision and deliver on the roadmap.

  • Help ensure the engagement from Business Owners, Shared Services and the stakeholders

  • Collaborate with architects on building the architectural runways, infrastructure needs, and other resources needed for delivering high quality products.

  • Support and enable DevOps capabilities for the teams and programs.

  • Understand, teach, and sponsor the software and hardware engineering skills needed to support the development of high-quality code, components, systems, and solutions

  • Create an environment of trust where it is safe to challenge, experiment and fail without fear

  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

Business Focused

  • Work closely with product managers and story owners to design features and prioritize tasks.

  • Own and prioritize the near-term product technical roadmap to deliver on business outcomes, quickly identifying points of leverage in complex problems or systems, and utilizing data effectively to define success metrics and measurable outcomes

  • Utilize balanced judgment in decisions about risks of both actions taken and not taken while innovating on ways to iterate faster in a well-managed way for the immediate team

Technology Driven

  • Assemble releases and drive improvements in release processes.

  • Analyze and evaluate development solutions to ensure it meets design objectives

  • Understand and leverage technology and end-state architecture vision to partner with IT teams to drive comprehensive design decisions out of white space technical problems

  • Work with owners of business strategy and roadmap with IT and business partners to establish context while also leading and facilitating agile ceremonies

  • Deliver value by creating reusable, extensible and resilient capabilities and proactively identify opportunities when key metrics on security, resilience and performance are not performing

  • Manage technical debt in an effective way to ensure it doesn't accumulate to the point where the only thing the team is doing is servicing debt and not iterating on the product

Transformational Leadership

  • Support teams by answering questions and solving problems.

  • Help with recruiting and hiring.

  • Groom and mentor the developers on their team, provide feedback on their work frequently, and encourage and promote best engineering practices

  • Work to broaden the technical capabilities of their team by delegating problems of increasing complexity, and pair programming with the developers regularly to provide technical guidance.

  • Help team achieve consistent velocity, and ability to deliver on its estimates by helping team mastering task management

  • Develop and communicate vision to senior stakeholders and partner teams with accurate details and transparency on risks and impediments, and proactively build relationships with those outside of your immediate team

  • Contribute to team culture and recruiting by leading activities to attract and retain top talent and mentoring and developing all team members

  • Lead and manage team SLAs such as:

  • Cycle time of tasks

  • Number of accepted points per contributor

  • Number of accepted stories

  • Number of outstanding bugs

  • Number of introduced bugs

  • Delivery date shifts

  • Average daily production deployments
