Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Business Applications, the IT Manager

  • Applications/Data Warehouse holds a pivotal role in our organization, overseeing the management, development, and migration of all custom applications. The successful candidate will lead efforts to migrate applications developed in older technologies to newer Microsoft technologies, ensuring alignment with our strategic IT objectives. Additionally, they will spearhead the development of the data warehouse infrastructure for Viant.

As the manager of our suite of business applications, this individual will ensure that software modules perform optimally, remain up-to-date, and maintain robust security measures. They will demonstrate a strategic and proactive approach, leveraging best practices to deploy new applications and processes company-wide while managing integrations between enterprise applications and other platforms.

Viant is a fully integrated supplier of medical devices, including molding, manufacturing, and assembly services. Viant has approximately 6,000 employees in 25 manufacturing locations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Duties & Responsibilities

Per the requirements of the position, the IT Manager

  • Applications/Data Warehouse will provide guidance, leadership, and direct input for the following tasks across the organization:
  • Ensure that applications meet business and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve system issues. Align business goals with applications roadmaps and priorities.

  • Using system knowledge expertise, collaborate with teams to help define, implement, and execute an enterprise-wide system use strategy; develop and enhance current software solutions.

  • Establishes structures and processes to plan and manage the orderly implementation of change.

  • Initiate and perform system and business process reviews and other service reviews to evaluate system utilization for maximum efficiency.

  • Understand business reporting requirements and assist with the design and development of the reports.

  • Develop maintenance and upgrade calendar to oversee effectively, test, and implement new modules and upgrades, which keep applications updated and error-free.

  • Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under consideration or in active implementation to ensure that the intended functionality is not conflict or duplicating any existing functionality in the organization.

  • Analyze all requested changes to systems for appropriateness and consideration of the impact on system efficiency and integrity of our data. Communicate changes and upgrades to the organization and coordinate approvals of both the change, and the timing to implement the change.

  • Track and report status on all user change and enhancement requests for all enterprise applications.

  • Ensure that new and existing software integrations meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications. Ensure that automated processing of data between systems is monitored to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Work with company leadership to ensure user access levels in all systems are role-appropriate and assist with security design for new/upgraded enterprise applications.

  • Offer technical expertise to help maintain the technology road map for Viant's Business Applications.

  • Maintain current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documentation

  • Other responsibilities as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year Degree in Computer Science, related field of Study or College Degree plus IT experience

  • 5+ years in a Lead Development Role or Equivalent Experience in a Technical Project Management Role

  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and its application in a development environment.

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft development technologies (VB, C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, SQL Server, etc.)

  • Development experience with MySQL, PHP, C, HTML, Perl, and Python in an open systems environment on Windows systems.

  • Experience developing system interfaces, machine interfaces, web applications, web services and clients, Windows services and forms, software libraries, database development, and scripting.

  • Proficiency in data warehouse development and management.

  • Perform data fixes using advanced SQL and staging tables.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on Master Data Management and ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) Concepts.

  • Experience collaborating with developers on designing & developing web services that can integrate Master Data with other systems.

  • Ultimate accountability for the accuracy of all in-scope data, including the execution of any data updates required to ensure accuracy when endorsed by leadership.

  • Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization.

  • The ability to use independent judgment to identify the root cause of problems and develop solutions to resolve them.

  • Passion for Customer Success and continuous improvement.

  • Successful candidates have a balance of functional (business) and technical experience

  • Ability to travel 40% to domestic and some international facilities.

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred education, experience & skills:

  • Understand manufacturing processes and IT systems and possess strong root cause analysis skills to identify correlations and draw conclusions.

  • Working knowledge and experience with BI tools like Orbit Analytics, PowerBI, and Oracle Analytics Cloud

  • Experience maintaining and managing custom applications.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts in a non-technical language

  • Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills to accurately document and report findings to a variety of audiences
