Job Summary

The Technology Inventory Specialist oversees the day-to-day inventory functions of the Information Technology Services (ITS) department and the lifecycles of organizational assets. Provides inventory and technology resource support for staff across the organization as needed.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides administrative support related to inventory maintenance and records, deals with administrative problems and inquiries. Communicates trends, issues, and vendor delays. Keeps departments updated on requests and equipment expirations so that aging technology can be removed from the environment.

  • Fulfills purchasing requirements for assigned area. Works with vendor contacts (e.g. Dell, Apple, etc.) to research items and obtain price quotes and equipment. Enters information into university systems, receives purchase orders, and reconciles purchases.

  • Processes purchase requests, orders, setups, and deployments to end customer.

  • Maintains online list of standard offerings to simplify the purchasing and support for FGCU machines by working with our vendor partners.

  • Tracks distributed office devices.

  • Performs yearly Inventory Audit. Transfers assets as needed. Reconciles the inventory of assets within Information Technology Services.

  • Prepares the documentation for, executes requests, and tracks disposal of equipment that has been taken out of operation via donation, auction or disposal.

  • Establishes and maintains systems for administration of records for the inventory areas, including electronic files, records, and databases.

  • Establishes and/or maintains key business relationships with departmental stakeholders and property managers.

  • Maintain a system to track storage rooms and equipment for the Information Technology Department.

  • Composes and prepares written documents and correspondence, including memos, e-mails, presentations, and spreadsheets.

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a high school diploma and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.

  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

  • Experience with inventory.

  • Experience with Workday.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to reconcile issues and expedite changes.

  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.

  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.

  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.

  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures consistently.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions, and/or develop appropriate alternatives where applicable.

Hourly Rate: $15.18 - $18.97/hour
