Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.
We are seeking a talented intern to add to our IT team at our Global Headquarters in Beachwood, OH to support GDPR initiatives. As a result of recent EU data privacy regulations, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) has become a part of our Aleris Data Privacy Culture. As an intern, you will work with global data privacy team members to ensure proper data protection documentation is collected, documented and meets regulatory requirements. This role provides you the opportunity to learn about global employee data protection practices engaging both Corporate IT and Legal processes. At the same time, we will give you the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills on a wide range of business tools and global data privacy requirements.
Demonstrate safety leadership and actively participate in maintaining a zero incident safety culture.

Contract activities: Work with legal and procurement to update contracts and manage follow up activities with vendors
Data Mapping: support various business lines and functions by identifying data flows and supporting the documentation data flow maps.
Metrics: work to implement privacy program metrics.
Request management: document, review, and process incoming privacy and records requests.
Project and initiative management: effectively plan and collaborate with team members on a range of projects; develop and execute privacy and compliance initiatives. Assist with other general corporate and business matters as required, including providing overflow support and project support within HR, Compliance and Legal teams.
Must be Full-Time Student (12+ Credit Hours/Semester) and be at a Sophomore Level
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or any IT related field
Ability to prioritize workloads and manage requests on time in a fast paced environment
Must be a self-starter who takes initiative
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Delivery focused and problem solving attitude
Technical proficiency in MS Office.
Comfortable working with employees in a global environment
