Location: Somerset, NJ
Duration: Full Time

Job Description:
The System Engineers role is to strategically design and implement in-house information systems and networked software architectures that support core functions and assure their high availability. This individual will gain organizational commitment for all systems and software plans, as well as evaluate and select all technologies required to complete those plans. In addition, the System Architect provides technical leadership across the different areas from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The System Architect will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support effective technology solutions for all aspects of the client. This person will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibility:
Strategy & Planning
Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining Client systems and software.
Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with Client goals and objectives.
Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Systems Analysts, Systems Engineers, other Systems Architects, and software development teams.
Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
Acquisition & Deployment
Where applicable, design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
Document the Clients existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements

Educational Qualifications:
Required

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent
    Preferred

  • Masters degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent
    Travel:
    Open to travel based up on the nature of the engagement

Responsibilities * Overall responsibility for the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems (including but not limited to HVAC, electrical and backup power systems, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, plumbing systems, sprinkler systems) * Overall responsibility for the maintenance and repair of building structural components including walls, roof, windows, doors, paved areas in accordance with building lease requirements. * Manage external maintenance contracts for facilities infrastructure and utility equipment; negotiate, execute and maintain contracts, review performance of external contractors. * Act as the Liaison between IVMI and the owners of Memorial Dr and Pierce St buildings. Ensure that the above parties are held responsible for the safe upkeep of their buildings, roof leaks, window problems, drainage, parking lot, snow removal, ground maintenance, structural issues, fire alarm, etc. Also, act as the Liaison between IVMI and other tenants of above mentioned property owners within the Memorial Dr and Pierce St buildings. * Manage the maintenance and repair of IVMI company vehicle(s) for employee and visitor use, schedule annual maintenance and up keep for all company vehicles including shipping/receiving vehicles.Oversee all furniture and office moves, relocation of equipment and setup of rooms for company functions * Utilize CMM systems to properly document maintenance activities following good documentation practices * Manage all new infrastructure projects including: * Manage project team to develop and/or modify conceptual plant layouts for renovations or new construction projects. * Organize room data, equipment lists, and other design inputs for renovation or new construction projects. * Interact with contractors/engineers/architects to develop conceptual plans into detailed design plans and construction permit packages. * Develop complete project budgets during conceptual phase, update budgets during later phases of design and monitor actual cost versus budget during construction phases. * Develop project schedules during conceptual phase, update and expand detail of project schedule in later phases of design, and monitor actual completion versus the project schedule during all phases of work. * Obtain pricing through sole source or competitive bid process including selection of bidders, bid analysis, and contract award for major projects. * Interact with construction contractors to ensure work is done according to original plans. Manage submittals, change orders, contractors' schedules and applications for payment. * Manage permit process with local township officials. * Assist General Manager and Director of Business Development in long-term facilities planning. * Maintain master plan layout drawings, room logbooks and data sheets. * Manage projects at the discretion of the Director of Business Development aimed to design, procure, install, start up, and document new facility and infrastructure equipment. * Manage and develop direct reports. * Responsible for training employees on equipment, task procedures, work standards and safety procedures. * Operate within existing safety guidelines, serve as a safety representative, and perform safety audits as required. * Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or Technical Certificate/Associate's Degree combined with relevant experience. * At least 10 years' experience in facilities- or construction-related position with at least 5 years experience within a manufacturing environment. * General knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and methods. * Computer literate in Microsoft Office; MS Project and Visio experience helpful. * Proven proficiency in AutoCAD. * Comprehensive knowledge of all equipment used, safety regulations, practices and procedures applicable to work unit. * Solid mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of electrical systems. * Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems as needed. * Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated abilities to resolve diverse problems, to understand the importance of structure, organization, resource management and to complete critical tasks in a timely manner. * Proven effective supervisory approach with the ability to lead a team and create a positive work environment. * Ability to ensure compliance to applicable laws, guidelines, policies, procedures and practices. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written. * Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner. * Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. * Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and manage time. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
